A neighborhood sunrise taken Friday morning...

It happens quite often, especially with succulents and fern-like plants, that green leaves are edged with a strong complementary red; here's an example taken two mornings ago...

Spring is seven days old already, here. Most of you will be looking forward to cooler weather whereas for me it is the beginning of no frosts but also the beginning of hot. I want it to rain but there's not much chance of that.

So why don't we make the theme of this month to be about water and the many pursuits of humans and animals in relation to water.

A nice hot summer day with light winds and low humidity. Hope your day is going good. Here is my favorite classic, ( one of them), a 57' Chevy.

Hello All,
Time sure flies by fast.
Outside a sense of calmness and quiet descended upon the neighborhood now that kids had returned to school on Monday.  Some kids have already gotten a few days off after severe thunderstorms blew through on Monday night.  We were spared and our power was not disrupted.

Peter, answering your question regarding the graffiti and the building being vacant. The last train came through the train station in 1988 (Amtrack).  Then the building shut down for the next 30 years.  The Ford Motor Company bought the building and shortly afterward renovations started. It took 6 years before the station was opened for public viewing.

The special assignment for my Photo Club in October is Street People.  I may use this shot from inside the train station to fulfill that category.  I also zoomed in on the photo to show you the extensive devastation done to the interior. This large photo was placed in front of the long hallway that appears in BACK of the photo/photographer.

Greetings all! Weather here still hot and humid, feels like Georgia!
Here is Old Ironsides from a trip to Boston and Cape Cod. Unfortunately it was under repair as you can see.

Good morning all - start of the last week in August.

Son's car still in the body shop. Hard to believe that running over that cast off tire from an 18 wheeler caused over $3000 in damages. And he has a $2500 deductible on his insurance policy.  Guess who gets to pay that? Undecided Anyway, it is supposed to be ready Thursday, so only 3 more days of playing taxi to get him to and from work. Life goes on.

Warm to hot temps have returned to Georgia with highs back into the mid to upper 90's all this week.

Haven't been out with the camera much, so here is a shop from Glasgow, Scotland, taken on a stroll from our hotel. We generally like to avoid cities in favor of the country, but I would have liked to have had a little more time in Edinburgh, Dublin and Glasgow. Afraid that ship has sailed though.

Well, I had a fun day with a friend and my daughter at the Michigan Central Train Station. We ended only having to walk a mile to and around inside of the building and I am so thankful that I had brought a cane.  The cane actually got us to the front of the line and we were able to enter before a LONG line of people that wrapped around the side and front of the building.  We wee about the 25th person to enter the building and got to see the large room BEFORE the crowds of people were let it.  The entrance way is monitored and only so many are allowed to enter at one time.  An hour and a half when we finished walking around and taking photos, the length of the line of people waiting to get in was twice as long!  I am sure glad that we went early.

Here are only two photos of the main floor of this magnificent building.  It is amazing how they restored this area covered in graffiti paint, not the art kind of graffiti.  It was GANG graffiti.

Here are only two photos to start.  The people in the first photo are walking along a wavy platform that contains the historic journey of the building and renovation of the Michigan Central Station.  The second shot shows the main entrance doors in the background.  This first level is where travelers bought their tickets and then sat on benches waiting for their trains to arrive or depart.  This large room will be used for special occasions.  M & M"s daughter's wedding reception was here.  All the food had to be catered and brought to the site since the kitchen in the building is no longer functional.

I hope you are having a great day.
BLessings to all,
LORELL

TGIF everyone! I hope it is a good weekend for us all.

As I was returning home from yesterday's early walk my back was really hurting and I was hunched over; that's the only reason I noticed these small (less than 1 inch across or 2.5 cm) delicate blossoms...

Take care, my fellow Foto Friends.
