Well, I had a fun day with a friend and my daughter at the Michigan Central Train Station. We ended only having to walk a mile to and around inside of the building and I am so thankful that I had brought a cane.  The cane actually got us to the front of the line and we were able to enter before a LONG line of people that wrapped around the side and front of the building.  We wee about the 25th person to enter the building and got to see the large room BEFORE the crowds of people were let it.  The entrance way is monitored and only so many are allowed to enter at one time.  An hour and a half when we finished walking around and taking photos, the length of the line of people waiting to get in was twice as long!  I am sure glad that we went early.

Here are only two photos of the main floor of this magnificent building.  It is amazing how they restored this area covered in graffiti paint, not the art kind of graffiti.  It was GANG graffiti.

Here are only two photos to start.  The people in the first photo are walking along a wavy platform that contains the historic journey of the building and renovation of the Michigan Central Station.  The second shot shows the main entrance doors in the background.  This first level is where travelers bought their tickets and then sat on benches waiting for their trains to arrive or depart.  This large room will be used for special occasions.  M & M"s daughter's wedding reception was here.  All the food had to be catered and brought to the site since the kitchen in the building is no longer functional.

I hope you are having a great day.
BLessings to all,
LORELL

WoW Lorell! You are brave to walk that much with your sore hip. I complain about having to walk a few blocks to get to the Palace when they have an event. The building is pure opulence for that time in history. Good coverage, well lit images.

Here are a couple more of the carnival.

Lorell, was this building empty long enough for gang graffiti?
Such a grandiose building.

How many times a year does the corn palace have such events, Rich?

Note, I've finally taken up using a walking stick as well.
My hips are still good and the doctor says my knees are fine though pain tells me he's missed something. My foot however has had some severe tendon damage as well as some broken bones and is now giving me lots of trouble. I spend many days with my foot up so I can get a couple more days before it starts the pain again.

However, the lady from ironbark and myself still get out and go looking for orchids at this time of year. We are both a lot slower now though.

In the bush though very arid country, magic can happen. With the orchids out it starts to look like fairy land. In fact some of the fink fingers are called pink fairies.

Here, if you squint you may see some pale pink fingers under these bushes. This will give an indication of their size.

Micromyrtus and Grevillea.

It is really difficult to get the light balance as I'm down looking at the ground floor and the sun is making pink and yellow blindingly white.

Or the colour of the orchid petals isn't burnt out but the overall low light makes the colours dull.

It is fun though.

On the drive home we were treated to some cloud irridescence. Wanted to stop and photograph it but was only 150m from my gate so these were taken from my front gate.

Peter, I like the bush and flowers. Not sure about the cloud photos. Looks like two photo put together.
Always something going on at the palace except for the summer tourist months. We have about 300 thousand + stop to view it. The inside turns into a souvenir market place of corn themed "stuff."

300,000 people spending money in town. Smile

The cloud is straight out of the camera. it is cloud irridescence.

Impressive building Lorell. We had a historic train station in Birmingham, Alabama, but it was demolished and a small prefab type building erected in its place. I remember walking through the building in 1966 as I was coming home from boot camp. Took the train from Great Lakes, Chicago to Bham. A few years later that grand old terminal was no more. Sad

I haven't been to a carnival or fair in years Rich. Nice to have it so handy.

So many things to see in your land, Peter. Nice photos. I enjoy strolls in nature, taking it all in.

Sorry to hear of everyone's aches, pains, and infirmities. I think we are all pretty much in the same boat as far as that is concerned.

I have never seen that here. We have a cloud similar we call mares tail but it is horizontal. Interesting!
Yes, that many people spending a few dollars in town helps the tax base!
