Good morning all. If you haven't seen Lorell's post from yesterday with the link to the video, I highly recommend doing that. I am about half way through it and find it fascinating, and making me want to try some of those techniques. I will try to put some of them to the test for sure on the Smokies trip that is coming up.
I went back in the archives from a few years ago when I was playing around with moving the zoom while exposing and found a few. Here is one - not great but gives and idea of the technique. There are a number of different techniques discussed in the video.
Tomorrow we are going to visit the Georgia National Fair to find out if my entries did any good. I only submitted 4 this year. Hopefully we will not encounter any traffic accidents along the way like last time.
I renewed the domain name so we are good for another year.
Dave's pano photo from yesterday reminded me that I have something similar (at least in format) from the photo walk. From the bridge where everyone was hanging out doing cityscapes and what not, I walked down to the waters edge and took a photo of them up on the bridge. Converted to B&W.
I really haven't been shooting much lately. Other than the photo walk and a short jaunt up the road a bit to shoot some pinhole shots of a church I haven't had the cameras out at all. I did notice some dust spots on the sensor of my Z6 and will probably clean both sensors sometime today and start deciding what I will take with me to the Smokies next month.
I might post a couple more photos from the walk later on.
Good Monday Morning Everyone,
It is good to get the last week behind us. Wishing all strength and endurance as clean up and rebuilding continues for our neighbors in Florida. It is a long road ahead for many. I cannot imagine what they are experiencing. I know how I fall apart when my kitchen sink gets plugged or the toilet is running. May the generosity and kindness of others, be the hidden gem that the survivors remember the most.
Today is MM day on FLICKR. Lately I have not enjoyed the topics that much, like today's current one. But I decided that I am not taking enough photographs lately, I needed to put something together. There are two challenges for me. One is coming up with a clever and unique idea and the other is taken a photograph that is also clever and unique. Macor Monday's is one of the largest groups on FLICKR. So, no matter what you do, there will be many who had the same idea as you. And that is what I discovered after looking at today's entries. There are so many little jewelry boxes, boxes of all kinds, when necklaces or bracelets hanging out of them. But so far, none with a light glowing inside!
We have an airshow down at the beach this weekend.
The bad news is that I'm several miles away so getting close-up shots is a problem.
The good news is about my camera. Several months ago the auto-focus stopped working, making it impossible to get photos of moving objects. Yesterday while getting ready forf the show I decided to remove then reattach the lens, hoping that might somehow re-enable auto-focus. To my surprise, it worked!
I still didn't get any great photos, but a couple of long-distance shots turned out OK. Here's one...
I hope you all are having a good weekend. Stay safe.
Well, after a bit of a drought I finally have a new image with which I can start the Daily. But it certainly doesn't look like my usual sort of image...
Kinda abstract, kinda creepy with dark shapes highlighted here and there as they emerge int0 view. I like that one area sort of looks (at least to me) like a dog's head. So what is it? I have little doubt that some or all of you will quickly figure it out.
I hope none of you suffered any damage or injury from Ian.
I have been among the missing for a bit. Got busy with other projects.
Went to visit my sister in Pierre,SD, the Capitol, Tuesday. A 2.5 hour drive one way. Got home about 5 PM. The next day I went out to do some errands, started my car, backed it out of the garage and the engine quit. Didn't restart. Got it in the shop late yesterday. They are working on it now and I haven't yet heard if they found anything.
From yesterday:
Natalie, yummy tomatoes! Yes, fertilize the blueberries. They are $2.99 a pint here, on sale this week.
Peter, that is an interesting looking flower! Very vibrant! Are the peas edible?
Well, not much happening ......my job has been walk my dog, then walk my son's dogs...I usually spend an hour or two with my son's dogs while he's at work....hate to see them alone all day long....while I was walking Gretchen, went into the garden, ate 4 strawberries! I planted four everbearing strawberries and every couple a weeks there are a few berries, all summer long! Def going to plant more of these for next year! Also picked a pint of yellow cherry tomatoes. Sun Gold. Very good to pick and munch on!! Very sweet tasting! Will plant more next year, too! Everything else is done....Watered the 17 potted blueberry plants....hope I get more berries next year. My daughter and I forgot to fertilize them, and we didn't get too many berries. Lesson learned! Hope Hurricane Ian passes quickly ....stay safe if you are in it's path!! Lorell, it's gonna change your vacation island for sure! Patty, Don.....hope it weakens before it goes by you guys!! We should just get winds and rain, but not hurricane force....I HOPE!
Well, we are keeping a close eye on Hurricane Ian since DD lives in Florida.
She usually will come up here during hurricanes but is not doing so this time.
We can only pray that this storm breaks up a bit.
They will definitely get a lot of rain. We probably will too.
I have nothing new so I dug back in my 2007 archive.
