Well, after a bit of a drought I finally have a new image with which I can start the Daily. But it certainly doesn't look like my usual sort of image...
Kinda abstract, kinda creepy with dark shapes highlighted here and there as they emerge int0 view. I like that one area sort of looks (at least to me) like a dog's head. So what is it? I have little doubt that some or all of you will quickly figure it out.
I hope none of you suffered any damage or injury from Ian.
Have a good weekend, everyone.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

DAVE, THANKS FOR THE INTERESTING START.
However, I have NO idea what it is. I bet Rich figured it out though.
Rich, That is a beauty. Gosh, the colors are great. This would look great printed.
Good day, Peter.
I will be gone all weekend for an out-of-town wedding. My daughter and I are leaving tonight and attending a Quilt Convention in the morning tomorrow and a wedding in the afternoon/evening. Should be a nice girl's weekend.
Not sure about taking photos of anything interesting. I will have my phone on me in case something good comes up.
I made some cannolis the other day. Wish I could have shared some with you. Do you like chunks of chocolate in yours?
Hi MFI. Yes, I would imagine you've seen and photographed lots of flora in a similar condition.
Rich, you (and MFI) are correct, it is the dried corpse of a sunflower. I don't think "past its prime" is accurate, though - this sunflower (and most of the other 10 I planted) never got close to prime.
Your guitar photo sings, and it glows with that lovely yellow, so I think you were wise to leave it that way.
It might be fun to see how it looks with the blossom alone desaturated a bit and lightened to make it a bit pastel in color and value.
Lorell, enjoy your girls' weekend.
I think I gained a few pounds just looking at your beautiful image.

Lorell, thanks for the comment!
Have a fun weekend and Carpe Diem!
The only cannolis I have ever had were at an Italian Bakery in Boston and they were filled with whipped cream.
Your's look MUCH better and chocolate chunks would be good! As I type this I am having a cup of Vanilla Yogurt and I added some dark chocolate chips.

Thanks all, didn't mean to make you drool....yes, I did.
Dave, really dark and moody shot of the sunflower....makes me sad....summer is over!!
Rich, that is a lovely shot of the guitar..the yellow tone makes one feel mellow!
Hi, Peter!
Lorell, enjoy your weekend, sounds like fun. Oh, my. Great photo....Those cannolis look appetizing, I've never had one in my life!! Do you deepfry the batter and then roll on a dowel? Love chocolate, so yes, chocolate chunks be good!!
