Good morning good people. Weekend is almost here... I am kind of thinking about going motorcycle camping Sunday, just for one night and fairly close. Not sure yet. DW has her first cataract surgery next Wednesday so I will be around the house for a while after that. We went to get our passport photos taken at AAA but the camera was down. I guess if they don't have it ready by Tuesday I will just pay for her photo to be done somewhere else as it will be a while before it can be done after the surgery. Always something.
I thought I would share a few photos that I didn't put on my photography page.
The first 2 are from a glacier hike that I did. Pretty brutal as it was very windy and much precipitation. Fun in an exhausting kind of way. Next 2 are of a waterfall that you could actually walk behind. And finally one of the places we stayed - thought it was interesting with the sod on the roof. Probably provides really good insulation.
Well, summer is definitely here. We have temps in the high 80s and low 90s now for several days. Finally had to turn the air conditioner on.
On my way to swim aerobics this morning and then to my SIL's for lunch.
See you all later.
From the most recent trip to PORT HURON to see the BLUE WATER BRIDGE and THOMAS EDISON MUSEUM. There is a coach train car outside of the museum that you can only enter from inside the museum, make sense? Here is the view of the blue water bridge from inside.
I think I'll make this a taco Tuesday. I have hot sausage, salsa, Mexican Crema, Mexican bulb onions, lots of cheese; just need to pick up shredded lettuce and flour tortillas
Finally got a couple of new photos that may be worth sharing. Here's one; it's one of the few healthy roses to be found at Ron's former house. I like how the green and red violet look together...
Memorial Day here in the US. If you see service members, shake hands and thank them for their sacrifices and service.
Still no new photos, so I retrieved one from June 2021 and set myself a challenge: could I come up with an image that had very vivid colors in the background and still make the COI grab the eye?
I ran the base image through various artistic adjustments in FotoSketcher, selected one, and came up with this...
I think the bright white of the flowers looking sharp against the soft background makes them stand out pretty well. Did I achieve my goal? I 'd give myself a B+ on that.
Hello and welcome to the weekend.
So, what are your plans for the LONG HOLIDAY WEEKEND (if that applies to you)?
I hope your weather forecast is as good as ours.
Have fun, be safe and maybe if you have no plans, you can read a good book this weekend.
Good morning all - it's a little after 3 AM here. So, while I am up I decided to post a photo of the Eurasian Oystercatcher. The Eurasion bird looks a lot like our American Oystercatcher but they are 2 different species.
Good morning all. I'll start with a photo of one of the many waterfalls we saw on our trip.
The only camera I took was my Z6 with a 24-200mm zoom and my 28-300mm zoom that I used with an adapter for the Z6. I wished more than once that I had my 120-600mm with me but I thought it would be too much trouble to bring. But next trip I am going to find a way. I took it with me to Texas but i had a camera case roll aboard which made it easier. This trip I just had a smaller camera backpack.
Bonehead play of the trip - and I am kind of embarrassed to admit this. We had stopped by the roadside, lots of birds, cliffs, crashing waves, etc. I spotted a Eurasian Oyster Catcher (I'll post some photos of one later). Really close, great photo op. Then it hopped up on a rock and just stood there. Click, click, click...
I was so proud, thought I had a classic shot. Moved on, taking more photos, when I noticed an "-E-" in the lower corner of the viewfinder. Hmmm, is my memory card full? I turned the camera off and back on, still there. So I decided to take out the memory card and put it back in and NO CARD!!! I had forgotten to put the card back in the camera the night before when I downloaded all the daily images. I was so upset with my self. I had opportunities later to get more shots of the Oyster Catcher but still... Anyway I discovered a setting on the camera that will not let the camera shoot if there is no card.
Good morning all. Rainy here this morning which fits my mood. DW and I have both been struck down with illness... I had a miserable night as I am sure she did as well. Doubt I will be going out and about today.
Lorell, yes, it is a beautiful country, especially once you get out of the city. The city was interesting but we wanted to see the country. Having our own car made it nice. I'll post more photos as time goes on but it might be slow. Food was good but expensive. No, really EXPENSIVE. The places we stayed had free breakfast but most evening meals were well over $100. Again, I'll describe more later. I am working on my travel blog with day by day activities and photos as well.
Another plant photo - I'll get into the birds, waterfalls, scenic landscapes, etc later. And speaking of birds, I think we ended up with 25 or so new birds!
The plane rides weren't too bad - we were able to nap a bit on the flight from JFK to KEF which was about 6 hours long.
