With the exceptions of dedicated Wet Belly and Astro photographers, we generally seek subjects at eye level.
But this can cause us to miss all sorts of photos, so every now and then consider making a conscious effort to look down or look up.
"Look Down" subjects could be: your feet, old or new boots or shoes you have on, ground cover plants, insects, street and sidewalk surface textures, and a lot more - including pebbles...
"Look Up" subjects might be: the moon, airplanes, skyscrapers, fireworks, tall trees, birds in flight, overhead cloud formations and more...
Looking through some travel photos and ran across this one. Talen in Myrtle Beach, SC at a sculpture park. As I was processing this I thought, gee, this would make a great place to have a wedding. Then the photographer in me took over and said, well.....maybe not. The shadows would be a nightmare to handle. The contrast too! You can see my depth of focus (DOF) is really shallow.
Good morning all. Looks like it is going to be a lovely day here today in SW Georgia. Already 70F.
I am pretty much completely packed for our trip (finished yesterday) but DW still has some packing to do. I'll do a check today to try to make sure I haven't forgotten anything.
Here is a photo from our last camping trip. A bluebird busting a move on the dance floor. Actually, I don't know what he was doing but I timed it just right to catch this pose.
I hope everyone had a nice weekend.
The surprise party I went to on Saturday was a lot of fun. And the play that my daughter and I saw yesterday was GREAT. We weren't the only ones who felt that way. As we walked out of the theatre, you could hear comments from all directions about how much people love the performance.
Well, back to my daily/weekly routines. Got to get ready for swim aerobics. And maybe when I come home, I can start a little yard work. I think the weather is going to cooperate today.
See you all later.
The little green specs of growth on this dried-up stem remind us that spring is a time for new hope and growth.
Before I go swimming, I thought I would welcome all to the weekend thread.
We got a lot going on this weekend, including attending a Surprise 80th birthday party today for a friend and a Theatre Play, Honkey Tonk Angels, on Sunday.
I hope all have a great weekend.
Till later,
LORELL
Good morning all. Looks like another nice day here today, although rain is coming and will last a few days. Also hot temps.
I haven't been posting a lot lately but I do check in regularly to make sure all is running OK. I always enjoy the great photos that are posted!
Yesterday the weather was ideal for a motorcycle ride so I decided to take a ride down to Plains, Georgia. These "snapshots" were all taken with my phone. I have some of my good camera equipment all organized and packed into one of my photo back packs in preparation for an upcoming trip. We are leaving Wednesday for a 10 day road trip through Iceland. Hopefully I will have some decent photos to share when we get back.
A couple of photos of Plains main street. Had a nice grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries at a little cafe called Buffalo's Cafe. Jimmy Carter's presidential campaign headquarters.
All in all a nice little outing a good way to spend the morning and early afternoon.
Walked across the street to find a place for lunch.
I was too tired to do anything after a weekend trip to Cincinnati, Ohio. It was like, get in the car, travel for 4.5 hours, hotel check-in, meet family for a party, go back to the hotel, sleep, go to Holy Communion at church, Party, get in the car, travel for 4.5 hours back home, collapse. We travel more when we go to Florida, but there is no partying in between! That is our excuse for being so exhausted.
Well, anyway, it was a good weekend. Great to be with relatives and friends and now safely home.
I worked hard on this mediocre shot I took at the Park the other week. I cannot get on the ground and up again without getting my hands dirty from pushing off the ground. So, my low-level photos are really suffering. And I love taking shots from the ground.
I had to turn it into a painting to make it presentable.
