It has already been a busy Thursday for me, swim aerobics, grocery shopping, and laundry.  When I finish here, I will go make some pasties  for dinner.  It takes over an hour to cut everything up and assemble them, then another hour to bake.  My husband is in a bad habit of not eating until 2-3 pm and when that time rolls around is like a hungry bear.

I have been working on my photos for our Christmas party I have to submit 10.  That is much better than the 20 we had to submit in previous years. So, you might have seen some of the ones that I will share in the next week or so, but hopefully, there are some new ones.

I am not sure about this first one.  I may look to see if I have a clearer photo to start with. But this is meant to have an artistic feel to it.

Have a great day all,
LORELL

Happy Hump Day (for all but MFI, who is always ahead of us)

I'm still going through my archives, and I found one (from 04/30/2017) that I thought might be a good example of Before and After processing.

It's a shot of blueberries in different stages of ripeness.

1) The shot that's SOOTC (except for the simulated mat & frame)...

2) After extensive (about 15 layers) processing...

On another note; my best and favorite camera and lens (Nikon D7500 with Nikkor 18-300 mm) has stopped working. It can no longer focus. I think the camera and lens aren't communicating. So I have to send it in for repair. Maybe I'll get lucky and just a good cleaning will fix things. Or it might take some expensive repair work.

So I'm back to my Canon PowerShot SX60 HS, and it's taking a while for me remember which buttons & dials do what and to reestablish my go to settings.

Wishing us all a good day.

Good morning all. We got back from our trip to New Mexico late Tuesday and I spent most of yesterday recovering, washing clothes, processing photos, etc. Also came back with a head cold which seemed to get worse when I got home. Been trying to look at as many threads as possible but still have some to go. Lots of good stuff in the forum.

Here are a couple of photos from the trip. I'll be posting more in the next few days. Photographers lined up to get a shot of the Snow Geese taking off in the early morning. A Cottonwood tree with nice lighting. I took several photos of this tree and a couple more with similar light over the course of our trip.

Hello there.
So, how is your day going so far?
I was lazy this morning and just laid in bed and played Canasta, Euchre, and Backgammon on my iPad.
I finally got up and did some laundry and made myself Avacoda toast for lunch. Yum
I hope you are all doing well.
Here is one of only a few of the flowers from our vacation spot up north.

Happy Monday everyone,
Peter, is it still Monday down under?

I got up and went to swim aerobics this morning.  I just finished prepping for a pot roast that I will put in the oven before I leave to join a friend at the movies.  It has been a long time since there was a movie that I wanted to see.  I picked the movie,  The Holdovers.

THE HOLDOVERS follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at an elite New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually, he forms an unlikely bond with one of them as well as the school's head cook.

From the sneak previews on TV, I think it is going to be a "feel good" movie.  I am ready for that.

Today on FLICR's Macro Monday group, the topic is dinnerware.
Here is the photo that I submitted for that.  You still can drag out your plates, cups, salt and pepper shakers, steak knives, napkins, etc., and take a macro shot and submit it in the group.  There is a lot of activity in this group.  Come join us.

This photo is the combination of TWO LENS BABY VELVET images.  One that is in focus, the other that has the velvety effect.  I layer them in AFFINTY. Easy peasy,

LORELL

December challenge should be all things yuletide

Not that I have one to post from this year so far.
However, I'll try this which is the Australian quandong or as some call it, native peach or plum. It is a Santalum so has the added benefit of the wood smoke smells like incense.
The fruit is high in vitamin C and the nut is both edible and useable as a long lasting flame like a candle.
I think they look a bit like Christmas tree baubles.
