Wednesday, Dec 13 2023 - Dave - 12-13-2023 Happy Hump Day (for all but MFI, who is always ahead of us) I'm still going through my archives, and I found one (from 04/30/2017) that I thought might be a good example of Before and After processing. It's a shot of blueberries in different stages of ripeness. 1) The shot that's SOOTC (except for the simulated mat & frame)... 2) After extensive (about 15 layers) processing... On another note; my best and favorite camera and lens (Nikon D7500 with Nikkor 18-300 mm) has stopped working. It can no longer focus. I think the camera and lens aren't communicating. So I have to send it in for repair. Maybe I'll get lucky and just a good cleaning will fix things. Or it might take some expensive repair work. So I'm back to my Canon PowerShot SX60 HS, and it's taking a while for me remember which buttons & dials do what and to reestablish my go to settings. Wishing us all a good day. RE: Wednesday, Dec 13 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 12-13-2023 Good old Dave. Always with a nicely crafted image. Sad about your camera. Do you have an air compressor? Though a big car sized one may be too big for a camera, this may be a way to clear the blockage in the zooming focusing function. RE: Wednesday, Dec 13 2023 - Dave - 12-13-2023 Thank you for those very kind words. If anyone is interested, I just posted a photo to the WhatIzIt? thread. RE: Wednesday, Dec 13 2023 - Luv2shoot - 12-13-2023 Good day gentlemen, Hey, Peter, I like your comment about Dave's image. That is a bummer, Dave, I am talking about your camera. I remember you had mentioned a while back that you had trouble with the lens focusing. But after you took the lens off and put it back on, the problem was fixed. I sure do how that it is a reasonable fix. Will you be sending in both the camera and lens? Do you have other lenses that work? I like the work that you did on the cropped-in image. Great color, focus and bright lighting. That would make a good wall hanging. Speaking of wall hanging. I have been busy working on a poster for my son's cat. He just got a cat a few weeks ago and it is the sweetest thing ever. My son lives alone and I think this cat will make a nice companion for him. He is low maintenance but extremely loveable, just like my son. Anyway, I saw a poster online that I wanted to RECREATE. I dropped in over at my son's house and took a photo of TOBY, his cat. I worked on this creation for a few hours thinking I would just get it printed and put into a nice metal frame I had purchased at a resale shop. I knew that the CVS stores (these are drug stores in our area with printing machines in them) were having a sale on photo prints and for only one more day, I could get a 16" X 20" print for only $9.99. However, when I went to order the print, I saw that they also had Canvas prints, (same dimensions) for only $19.99. I had to redo and create more negative space around the poster for the "WRAP", but then I submitted it and a few hours later picked up this. I am very pleased with the results and think that he is going to like it. It is one of those presents that I cannot wait to give him. I was lucky to get the cat looking directly into the camera. I remember NORM saying that was an important part of getting a good pet photo. I wonder what ever happened to NORM. I am sure you remember him and all of his gray card experimentation. Have a good day, guys, LORELL RE: Wednesday, Dec 13 2023 - Dave - 12-14-2023 MFI, I think it best for me to leave the camera cleaning to the experts. Lorell, thanks for your response to my photo. Yes, I will take both the camera and lens down to my local camera store. I don't have a second lens, but maybe they have another lens to attach - that could pinpoint where the problem is. You probably know that I hate cats. Still, I gotta say that your poster is an excellent bit of work. And the cat's attitude expressed in the words is so true. Great price for the canvas print. Like you I have used CVS for photo prints when they're on sale. Did you happen to notice the cat photo in my Fauna album on Flickr? It's probably the only cat photo you'll see from me. RE: Wednesday, Dec 13 2023 - Man From Ironbark - 12-14-2023 I haven't got any cat photos on my Flickr. |
