Well, my 2024 is off to an eventful start:
1) Today is my wife's birthday. I'd best not divulge her age - let's just say it's a milestone birthday.
2) Yesterday morning's early walk in the dark included a hard fall. My vision in the dark has slipped a bit; without clear visual cues my depth perception isn't what it used to be. I caught the toe om my boot on a raised portion and went down hard on the sidewalk, twisting my body in an effort to protect the camera (my back-up Canon, not my Nikon D7500 - more on that below). The Canon appears undamaged, but the mono-pod cracked and no longer secures the camera.
3) Regarding the Nikon, I've mentioned before that I've been having problems with it, and yesterday I took it down to the local camera shop. They determined that the lens is the faulty component and needs to be sent in for repair. It doesn't look like the glass itself has been damaged. They couldn't give me an accurate cost estimate or a time frame, but warned that it could be $200 to $300 and take 2 to 3 weeks.
So I'm back to using the Canon, on a second mono-pod. And I woke quite stiff and hurting in a couple of places, but without serious injury. Still, today's walk(s) will be challenging.
Here's one shot taken yesterday on my walk back from the camera store. A rather blah subject, but I need to reacquaint myself with how to use the Canon...
I hope the early days of 2024 have been less problematic for you all.
