TGIF everyone.

Nothing new from me so it's back to the archives (2017/03/01) for a bit of spring color to brighten this winter day...

Good day folks.

My usual morning walk starts around 6:00-6:15 but today I didn't get out until around 8:30. And the brighter light had a nice quality to it. On the way back I heard chirping and looked up to see this small bird about 6 feet overhead. I haven't yet identified it (my first guess was some sort of sparrow, but I found nothing in my Sibley guide that looked right).

Anyway, after downloading some of the photos I took, I decided to process this one because of the open beak as the bird sang and because the colors turned out pretty accurate. I cropped for composition and really like that the branches suggest an Asian, minimalist style to me...

Have a good day everyone.

I have a small pond outside my window....this is the first year I have seen this bullfrog this late in the year. I mean, it's December!!  Why is she still here?  She is sitting on a floating basket where I have parrot feather growing. I'm thinking she goes into the basket to sleep.....she disappears sometimes for a few days....today she is out. If she lives in the basket, then she sleeps (hibernates) in water??  I don't know....silly bullfrog

Hope everyone is having a decent holiday season so far.

A few from yesterday. This time of year more and more people are in need of help. I met this couple, who are struggling, but, do their best to make ends meet. He may be one of the best violinists I have ever heard. They both try, sometimes we just need a hand up. Leica Q2.

Here's your weekend Daily.

Below are two versions of the same photo that I took 12/1/22.

The first processing...

For the second I wanted it more orange, which is closer to the actual color before I processed #1...

HMMMM??? When posted here it looks (on my screen) that there is very little difference between the 2 versions. But when I view them in either Photoshop or my image editor the difference is much stronger. Go figure.

Soccer talk below - if that's not your thing please ignore.

Today starts the knock-out rounds (one loss and out) of the World Cup. Here are my predictions for today's two games...

USA (#16) vs Netherlands (#8) : regrettably I have to pick Netherlands to win

Australia (#38) vs Argentina (#3) : Argentina will end the Aussies marvelous run

Wishing you all a great weekend.

Hi Folks

Here are a couple of images taken and edited in the past week. They are at the stage of "thinking about them". So any comments both for and against would be welcome.

With this one, I then thought it might be a good idea to turn it more "autumny" by inverting the A-channel in LAB colour, and masking back some of the original. That gave the following. At this stage, I'm not sure which I prefer?

Here's the other.

As mentioned, C&C definitely appreciated.

regards - Pete

P.S. On the "Autumny" version I've just turned the car red (brighter, more saturated than before), which helps to balance out the red buildings a bit. Does improve the image!

Hey there, it is December!
Wow, that was a quick year.

Good morning all.
I see that we missed yesterday's daily and before I get a move on this morning, I wanted to get this thread going.
From my club's last photo trip to the KIRK IN THE HILLS Episcopal church, I captured this image of their impressive and beautiful stained glass windows. This is looking up at the ceiling over a side altar.  The side altar is to the left of this pulpit.

I hope you have a great start to your day,
LORELL

Good morning folks.

I posted an image in the November challenge and have 2 more ready for it, but other than these I have no new photos. So I went back again to February 2017 archives to re-crop and reprocess a shot of a hummingbird at a feeder in the shadows under the eave...

I'm looking forward to today's World Cup soccer games. Today starts the last of the games in group play and the results will determine who moves on to the knockout rounds (meaning a loss eliminates a team from the tournament). Some good matches and some that should be non-competitive, but of course I'm most interested in the US game. We play Iran, and the US must win to advance.

Hello FotoFriends and Blessings to all on this Sunday.

I finally feel more like myself after a few days of rest.

Our cannoli shells turned out great, it was definitely a two many job making them.
Thankfully I had the Kitchen Aid Pasta Maker attachment to rolling the stiff dough out. The thickness had to be less than the thickness of a quarter!
There was no way that I could have done that manually.  I would still be rolling the dough out today!

But I rolled the dough, cut the circles out of it, wrapped them around the metal tubes, glued the ends together with a little egg wash, and handed them over to my DH to drop them in a fryer.  The frying took only 1-2 minutes max but had to be watched closely so they would get overcooked.  He finally got the hang of it after about the 5th one realizing that they continue to get brown even after you remove them from the fryer.

We made 33 of them!  It was fun and it turned out well.  We all liked the shells because they were light and fluffy.  Sometimes when you buy them from the bakery, they are thick are hard.  They must be because they sometimes sit "filled with cream" in the bakery's showcase for hours or longer.  I did not fill them until just before I served them.  They were the best ever. I wish I could share. But this is the best I could do.

Have a great day all.
LORELL
