It was cold here (for coastal SoCal) overnight, and still in the low 40s when I took today's early morning walk. But the rising sun was strong and if the sky stays free of clouds it should be a pleasant afternoon.
Another of Ron's roses that I shot during light rain on 12/31/22...
On today's walk, I noticed that many of Ron's flowers were gone - sad to see that.
Lorell, you wrote about Detroit's win yesterday. They must beat Green Bay next Sunday to make the playoffs (and end Green Bay's season), and that will be a challenge. But I'm rooting for them!
Back again to March of 2017 (that was a good month for my photography results) for this floral. I probably posted it way back then on WC and was going to reprocess it but quickly realized that I probably wouldn't come up with a better version than this...
Sorry that I have been MIA lately. I can bring a doctor's note.
Both DH and I came down with COVID on Tuesday.
We started with a bad cough and I thought I was just getting a cold. Then I noticed DH coughing a lot too. When we woke up Wednesday morning, it was obvious, we were sick. Wednesday was the worst day. We both got the chills and fevers, mine as high as 102.1. We both took the home test on Wednesday and it showed positive for both of us. Luckily that was the worst day so far. Today we feek better but still feel like we have a severe head cold. I am not sure how long this may last, but they say the symptoms might last up to 2 weeks. Oh joy!
We have no idea how we got this. We were around people on Christmas EVE, Christmas and Tuesday after Christmas, and we have contacted everyone that we saw. So far, no one has reported any illness.
So, we are doing a lot of watching NEFLIX and resting, though I had to start doing some laundry this morning and a little cleaning. Yes, I know it can wait, but it feels better when things are clean and orderly.
This is the lighthouse in Belle Isle Park. Belle Isle Park, known simply as Belle Isle , is a 982-acre (1.534 sq mi; 397 ha) island park in Detroit, Michigan, developed in the late 19th century. It consists of Belle Isle, an island in the Detroit River, as well as several surrounding islets. The U.S.-Canada border is in the channel south of Belle Isle.
Here is a little history regarding the lighthouse: There are several lighthouses in Michigan, about 150 of them if you really wanna know, and the Livingston memorial light is one of the most unique, not only in Michigan but in the United States. It’s one of only 3 lights erected as a memorial in Michigan and the only navigational light constructed of marble in the country.
Good morning all. We made it home yesterday with the trailer - looks like new. Today I will open her up and we'll check it out and start loading things back in the we normally keep in there full time. I want to clean the roof as well and since it is going to get fairly warm today, I might do that this afternoon.
We had a wonderful Christmas lunch prepared by the granddaughters on Sunday. Yesterday (Boxing Day) we went to some friends of my son-in-law for another amazing lunch. It was overcast, and I left my camera at home. It turned out that these folks stay in the country, and their neighbors live in a windmill. The sky cleared up just before sunset, so we walked down the road a bit to photograph the mill. I only had my smartphone, so that had to do. I know from experience that the quality of the smartphone pictures aren't up to standard, but what can you do.
Anyway, here is one of the shots taken with the phone and processed in Photoshop last night. The details in the trees, particularly on the left side, are poor.
I'll start a Daily, even though I suspect many of us will be too busy during this holiday season, or recovering from all the Christmas activity, to view or respond.
A sunset taken a few weeks ago from in front of my house; I find it rather calming...
Good morning all. Hope those of you who are in the frozen zone are keeping warm. Even down here in the "deep south" it is pretty chilly outside. I really need to venture out in a bit to buy a Christmas card and birthday card for DW as I haven't done that yet. Procrastinated too long.
Here is what my little outside weather station is telling me the outside temp is. Wrong, obviously. It has been bouncing back and forth between that and -7, -5, 0, etc. Has a bit of a problem. Weatherbug.com is showing 13F. Brrr. Can't imagine what some of you have right now.
Hope all have a joyous and happy Christmas weekend.
