Wow! No activity that I can see in 6 days, so I decided to try a new post to see if the website is still active.

It's been an eventful January for us.

1) My wife's mother passed away in her sleep on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. She was 96, and had lived a remarkable, courageous, and honorable life.

2) I finally succeeded in getting the newer PC functional and was about to transfer files (including over 10 years of photos) from the old and unstable PC to the new one. But the old one finally stopped booting up (a faulty BIOS that Dell was aware of) so I have to figure out how to access all that data.

3) I can't find the install discs for either of my Photoshop programs, so I have no program on the newer PC for editing photos.

4) We recently had our wills and family trust updated and I'm trying to change the ownership and beneficiary designations changed to what the estate attorney recommends.

5) My wife had surgery yesterday. She is diabetic and has been advised that dialysis is inevitable and the surgery was to insert the tubes needed for dialysis. The surgery went very well.

I've managed to take a few photos but with no editing program I can't prepare them to post.

So here is a link to a live Bald Eagle camera near Big Bear:  Bald Eagle Cam. Jackie just laid her third egg yesterday.

Well, it only took one day and the snow is about 95% gone. It is still cold at night though, temp is 22F right now. We had planned a trip down to Tampa last Monday but delayed due to the weather, so we are trying again this coming Monday. A little rain forecast but temps well above freezing.

Yesterday afternoon DW says, "come quick, look" as she was peering out the back window. There was a red fox in our backyard, pretty cool. I grabbed my little Lumix, but the battery was completely dead, so I missed a photo op. Still was cool to see the fox.

Y'all have a good day today.

I haven't been doing any photography at all lately, hence my absence. I do check on the forum frequently though. However, since we had a rare snowfall for this area of Georgia, I figured I would share a photo from yesterday. I measured the snowfall yesterday evening and it was 2 inches. Probably got just a little more last night. It is currently 15 F here, again, pretty cold for us. It should rise above freezing later today but I don't think it will melt all the snow. Probably last a day or two and then be gone. Anyway, I took this photo of my poor little truck yesterday afternoon. No room under the car port for it.

As part of a routine physical exam I go to the lab today to have blood drawn for a number of standard analyses. I was instructed to fast for at least 8 hours so far my final meal late last night I wanted something satisfying. I decided on a version of chicken chili.

- One 15 oz can of Great Northern beans.
- One small seasoned chicken thigh, leftover from a few days ago and cut into small pieces.
- One 12 oz can of fire roasted tomatoes and various hot peppers.
- 1/2 tsp of fresh ground Cayenne powder.
- 1 tsp of dried diced Mexican Oregano.

Cooking couldn't have been simpler: throw all ingredients into a medium sauce pan and heat covered on very low heat, stirring occasionally.

The photo is 95% SOOTC (just and exposure adjustment (original photo was pretty much solid black), an increase in clarity, and a final round of USM to counteract the softening that comes from resizing to post. The intense red color came, I imagine from the Cayenne powder.

Hi Folks

We're on a pretty hectic holiday Down-Under, as you might gather from my January club entry images that I've just dropped into my photo section at the bottom of this forum.

All the best for 2025.

regards - Pete

Good day, all.
I worked late in the evening in my "camera room" attempting to get one more shot for my camera club meeting tonight. I was not pleased with the outcome that I was looking for.

I had everything set up for using the light painting technique and although I did get a few good shots, it would have taken too long to consolidate them into ONE as I did for the photo below.

The image you see will be used for the category VB, Very Best.  This is a light painting that took several hours to combine 12 separate photos that took only about 5 minutes to shoot. Yes, it takes longer to set up everything than to photograph the parts you want to highlight.

I have had this huge leaf in my back room for at least 4 months, I am actually happy that I can finally throw it away not that I have preserved its memory.

Have a good Thursday all,
LORELL

Good morning.
I have PT again this morning and  a Telli meeting with a Physician Assistant at 1 so before I get tied up by all of that, I am stopping in to drop off a photo that I will be using for my photo club meeting tomorrow evening.

One of the categories is NATURE.  I had to look deep into my files for something that I could share.
Here is what I dug up.  I took this a while ago when I was still able to kneel down on the ground and get up without assistance.   Big Grin
Have a good day all.

OMG, it is practically the middle of the month!
Geez, how does that happen?

I know you have seen photos of this wind twirler in our backyard, but I am not sure if I ever posted one from the wintertime.
Have a good start to your week my FOTO friends.
LORELL
