Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Don - 01-23-2025 Well, it only took one day and the snow is about 95% gone. It is still cold at night though, temp is 22F right now. We had planned a trip down to Tampa last Monday but delayed due to the weather, so we are trying again this coming Monday. A little rain forecast but temps well above freezing. Yesterday afternoon DW says, "come quick, look" as she was peering out the back window. There was a red fox in our backyard, pretty cool. I grabbed my little Lumix, but the battery was completely dead, so I missed a photo op. Still was cool to see the fox. Y'all have a good day today. RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Dave - 01-23-2025 Sorry you couldn't get a shot of the fox, Don. Hmmm. I don''t think I've ever seen a fox in the wild. Deer, moose, caribou, bighorn sheep, brown bears, various raptors including the bald eagle, all sorts of other birds, squirrels of many kinds, muskrats, a huge snapping turtle, and more. But never a fox. A house at one end of my street has two well-tended rose bushes; one produces rather large pink blossoms and the other small yellow ones. Here's a shot of the yellow one, taken 2 days ago. This was taken before full sunlight struck the blossom, and I kinda like the paler soft yellow - a more subtle and restrained image than what I usually produce. RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Luv2shoot - 01-23-2025 It is still morning, but just barely. I have no reason to leave the house today, and it feels good to be able to stay home. I hope to do some sewing today. My housework is already done. YES! Dave, I have something to follow up on regarding your theme. How does this work? It is still morning, but just barely. I have no reason to leave the house today, and it feels good to be able to stay home. I hope to do some sewing today. My housework is already done. YES! Dave, I have something to follow up on regarding your theme. How does this work? RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Dave - 01-24-2025 Lovely image, Lorell. It exhibits a professional level of restraint that I seldom achieve. I've been bouncing back and forth between 2 PCs. The old one is suffering from a damaged BIOS and I fear that all the years of photos on it may be lost. For months I've had problems getting the new one set up, but in the wee hours of the morning I repeated my attempts to get the new one working. I went through the same steps I've done many times with no success, but this morning they worked. Now I need to recover data from the old PC (including thousands of photos over many years) and then find my install disks for Photoshop. RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Man From Ironbark - 01-25-2025 In Australia we shoot at foxes with guns. As introduced feral pests. I don't have a gun so I'm not one of the we. In fact almost all Australians don't own a gun. The licensing for gun ownership is quite strict. I love the rose theme but surely they can't be blooming in the depth of winter? As for organising my computer files, that's been gathering dust for years. RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Rich - 01-31-2025 Don, cool on the fox. I have seen some here when golfing. Wx here was 50 F yesterday , snow coming on Monday. Beautiful rose Dave! I like the softness of it. I think of you every time the Santa Ana wind comes up or changes. Hope all is well for you. Lorell, an amazing photo and presentation! Hi Peter! RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Man From Ironbark - 02-01-2025 Yes. Lorell's image is stunning. RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Don - 02-01-2025 Dave, are your photos on a drive that you can physically remove? I know I have a 2 or 3 drives that I have removed and stored when replacing with a larger capacity drive, for example. But, sometime back I purchased an interface that I can attach to the hard drive and then to a USB on the computer, and it appears as another drive. Then I can either transfer files or search for a file, then copy, etc. As I recall it wasn't extremely expensive and has come in handy a couple of times. RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Dave - 02-01-2025 Don, I periodically copy all my documents to an external hard drive. But obviously not often enough. But newer ones are on an internal drive in the old PC that no longer boots up. I need to connect that internal drive to the new PC, but that will require a cable that is compatible with the different type of connector that the motherboard of the new PC requires. I hope that's possible. I also hope it will be possible to copy my downloads from the old to the new PC. I like the sound of the interface you described. Can you give me details? My email is my email address. Early this morning my photographer friend (a lady aged 82 who looks no older than 62 and is in better shape than most people in their 40s) went on a photo outing to Huntington Beach's large Central park. We walked several miles, took many 100s of photos, and even if few of them are keepers it was a glorious morning. RE: Thursday, Jan 23, 2025 - Don - 02-02-2025 Dave, your email didn't come up, only gmail.com. But, here is something similar to what I have - couldn't find where I ordered mine from. I found this one on Amazon and actually seems to have more options than the one I have. https://www.amazon.com/Adapter%EF%BC%8CIDE-External-Recovery-Converter-Universal/dp/B0CRCZ1QPV/ref=asc_df_B0CRCZ1QPV?mcid=40856f96e3b1321689b7b72b40520ebe&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693611984331&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=6313075063975217813&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011447&hvtargid=pla-2292975225079&psc=1 So, unless your internal hard drive is SSD, you should be able to remove it from the old computer, then use this interface to transfer data from the old drive to the new computer. |
