Wednesday, Jan 29, 2025 - Dave - 01-29-2025 Wow! No activity that I can see in 6 days, so I decided to try a new post to see if the website is still active. It's been an eventful January for us. 1) My wife's mother passed away in her sleep on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. She was 96, and had lived a remarkable, courageous, and honorable life. 2) I finally succeeded in getting the newer PC functional and was about to transfer files (including over 10 years of photos) from the old and unstable PC to the new one. But the old one finally stopped booting up (a faulty BIOS that Dell was aware of) so I have to figure out how to access all that data. 3) I can't find the install discs for either of my Photoshop programs, so I have no program on the newer PC for editing photos. 4) We recently had our wills and family trust updated and I'm trying to change the ownership and beneficiary designations changed to what the estate attorney recommends. 5) My wife had surgery yesterday. She is diabetic and has been advised that dialysis is inevitable and the surgery was to insert the tubes needed for dialysis. The surgery went very well. I've managed to take a few photos but with no editing program I can't prepare them to post. So here is a link to a live Bald Eagle camera near Big Bear: Bald Eagle Cam. Jackie just laid her third egg yesterday. RE: Wednesday, Jan 29, 2025 - Man From Ironbark - 01-29-2025 Sorry to hear of your mother's passing. She had what looks to be what we call in Australia, "a good long innings". It comes from cricket and refers to the length of life lived. Also sorry to hear of your wife's illness. Hope you do get all your files and data fixed. Are there not other apps than photoshop that can help with photo editing? I haven't used photoshop since PS2. RE: Wednesday, Jan 29, 2025 - Dave - 01-29-2025 Thanks for the reply, MFI. Correction: it was my wife's mother who passed recently. My wife would rather not have regular dialysis, but it beats the alternative. Her surgery was simply to put in place the tubes and such needed for at-home dialysis so we'll be ready when that becomes necessary. Yes, there are alternatives to Photoshop but I've learned how to use it efficiently, and I'm too old for the steep learning curve I'd face with a different photo editing program. I'm still investigating how to retrieve data from a dead computer. I have nearly 1 terabyte of files I need to get at and copy to 2 different drives on the new PC. RE: Wednesday, Jan 29, 2025 - Man From Ironbark - 01-30-2025 Best of luck with it all. |
