A new week already. Why is it that the weeks and months fly so quickly for me now that I'm at the stage of life where I have few years left?
I've taken few photos lately but my friend Sandy invited me to join her to a photo outing at our city's large Central Park.
Very few birds around, but lots of pretty blossoms. Here's one of maybe ten photos worth sharing...
This part of our Central Park has some steep climbs, and I admit that it was pretty tough on my nearly 76 year old legs. But I believe that I gotta keep moving because if I stop it will be hard to start again. Or as Satchel Paige said: "Don't look back; something may be gaining on you."
Greetings Friends! A hot weekend in SD. Looking at 105 F, temp now is 101 F.
Working on a watercolor of my Grandsons cat. A difficult one because it is hard to paint a white cat on white paper. Maybe I should have used black paper!
These photos are from a trip to California in 2006. Had to go back in my way-back machine for them. I am not sure of the location but it might be Big Sur and Highway 1. Dave would know. The seals are napping after a big meal I suppose!
Good morning all. Yes,, been a while but we have been pretty busy. DW and I did a Columbis/Snake river boat cruise, and 2 days after we returned home I was on my way to Texas for 20 days for the Kerrville Folk Festival. I didn't take a lot of photos on either trip but I have posted a few below. One is Multnomah Falls, near Portland, Oregon where we boarded our river boat, one is a little tree growing near a rail on a railroad track, and one is a photo of (I believe) Mt. St. Helens, taken with my phone from a bus. We visited Mt. St. Helens later on the cruise, but it was socked in by clouds. Anyway, hopefully home for a while now.
Good day to all. And welcome all fellow triskaidekaphiles to Friday the 13th.
One more photo of my Day Lily shots a few days ago...
We are "empty nesters" again. The mama Allen's hummingbird and her 2 nestlings left the nest 3 or 4 days ago. As always, it was a privilege and an emotional experience to watch the mother's hard work to successfully raise her young ones.
I wish us all a happy, productive, and safe weekend.
The light on my early morning walk yesterday was pretty good for photographing flowers; an even layer of marine haze countered the harshness of the strong morning sun.
Here's a Red Day Lily taken in the parking lot of my local mall...
Then I noticed a Monarch butterfly moving from flower. Anyone watching me chase it must have thought I was a bit daft, but I managed one good shot...
BTW, I heard a news report that said the Monarch population in the US has unexpectedly increased recently after years of steep decline. Still not where it was some years ago, but an encouraging development
It's not far from Thursday for me and as usual there's some sunset from Wednesday shots to go through to see if I'd show any to other people.
Trouble is, there's always, would they like to see this angle or that? So many photos to choose from. I do so miss the family slide nights where I could tell which photos got the most appreciation.
See I started this thread yesterday and still haven't decided on which sunset picture to show.
Try these.
Hello there.
Time slips away so easily now.
If I had some new photos to share, I would be stopping in more. But my use of my camera these days is few and far between.
Hope you enjoy this one.
Greetings all! Our First Friday on Main was yesterday. A disappointing turnout for the classic cars. Very few. This one I have posted in the past. A 1933 Plymouth Coupe. Notice the license plate. It is from my county number,, 8th largest population in the state from 1933. The owner drove it from Phoenix, AZ to SD. Takes a lot of faith to do that....and a good back!
