I wonder if any other photographers waste diesel fuel on stuff like this?

Another Monday morning.

These flowers were taken last month in an outlying area of our Central Park that is still being developed.

I'm pretty sure these are a variety of Blanket Flowers...

Wishing us all a happy, productive, and safe week.

Again I'm starting it early but it is Saturday here and there has been little happening all week by the lack of posts.
So Maybe there will be some weekend posters?

This is one of my trees. Maybe I planted too many trees but this one seemed to be looking for light and has done some bending. It is a naturally straggly multi-stemmed tree with a lignotuber, the description of a mallee tree. However it may be several hundred years before it takes pride of place. It is approximately 37 years old now.

I decided that it was suitable for this treatment, which is simply inverted but has a credible spooky look.

Another week is underway.

Why is it that the days fly by faster when one reaches the age of having a limited number left? Doesn't seem fair.

I need some help to ID this car seen at a mall a few days ago.

The general styling and the yellow & white colors suggest to me that it's from the early to mid 1950s. Some details hint at a GM make, while others suggest dodge or Chrysler. Unfortunately all identifying details that would include make and model were not preserved during restoration.

Tap tap

is this thing on?
Knock knock. I know I'm early with the weekender but I've given you an extra day to think about Saturday. Which it is for me as the sun slips into view on the 214th day of the year.
The sun has set on Friday:

It also set on where the rain went without stopping here.

This P950 has a good zoom.

Happy Hump Day! The week is half over.

Last Sunday's outing to our Central Park didn't result in many good photos.

Here's one that fell short: It's a shot of a Pin-tailed Whydah that was at least 75 yards away, pretty much beyond the capabilities of my camera & lens. I was lucky to get even this poor shot. You can zoom in for a better look at the bird, but the poor quality of the image will be obvious.

The Whydah is native to Africa but seen more and more in Southern California; that's probably because some escaped and more were simply released by owners who no longer wanted to take care of them.

Yesterday I was surprised to receive a tsunami alert on my phone, The massive Russian earthquake could have caused damage even 5000 miles (8050 km) away, as well as all along the rest of the coast. Fortunately there have been no reports of damage so far.

I spent several hours yesterday morning at part of our city's Central Park, walking a few miles and taking photos.

The walking was good, but photo results a bit disappointing.

Here's a scruffy looking male Western Bluebird...

Good day, all.

Here is a favorite photo from way back to February 2017.

It rained overnight, coating the trees in the parkway areas with moisture, and the backlighting from a streetlight lit up the scene quite nicely, creating the lovely oranges and yellows...

Happy Wednesday Friends!

Well, the 2025 Rodeo Parade is in the books. Unfortunately not as good as last year. Mostly large vehicles with a sign on the side indicating a business in town. Pretty lame. Last year we had a lot of decorated floats.

Here is one that is always a hit. The Shriners of our town. They spray water on the crowd, usually hits the kids with a light spray.
