Happy Hump Day,
How about a cup of tea to help you get through the day?
We have a little snow storm going on here.  Just 3-6 inches of the white stuff.
See you later.
Enjoy your cup of tea or morning Joe.
LORELL

Cold here again (compared to our coastal SoCal norms) - it was 36 F (2.25 C) outside my front door at 4:00 this morning.

I fear that Ron's roses may not survive much longer, due to neglect by the renters and our cold and wet weather.

Here's one I took this morning; most of the few remaining flowers look like the one on the right...

Good Monday morning all.
I had a busy weekend with the photo shoot on Saturday and going out to dinner with my family on Sunday.  It was all good.
I have lots of photos from the camera club trip to the Detroit Historical Museum and the Famous Fisher Building downtown Detroit, but I am going to start off with a simple shot that I took after WE were KICKED out of the second floor of the Fisher Building! There is a hallway that overlooks the main floor of the Fisher Building and you can get some pretty cool images from there.  There were three of us up there, two with tripods and me without.  A security guard, very politely, came up to me and asked if I had permission to be on the second floor taking photos.  I couldn't produce a photo pass, because I did not have one, and thanked him for informing me about the rules of NO PHOTOS ON THE SECOND OR THIRD FLOORS UNLESS YOU HAVE PERMISSION FROM THE OWNER OF THE BUILDING.    So, I told my fellow shutterbuggers, and off I went.  But as I was leaving, I took this shot of the staircase on my way down.  I am such a little rebel!  Hee Hee  Tongue

Off to swim now.  I wonder what kind of trouble I can get myself into there.
Have a good start to your week.
LORELL

White and purplish Alyssium in the front yard. Although seed packets are usually sold in one color or the other, it's not unusual for a single plant to have blossom clusters of both colors, as this one does.

And at least in my yard, they are very simple to grow: just scatter a few seeds (I usually cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil to reduce the number that are eaten by birds or blown away by the wind) and water them a little. They seem to return and proliferate year after year.

My NFL picks:

In today's games I pick Kansas City over Jacksonville by at least 14 points, and Philadelphia over New York (Giants) by the same margin.

In Sunday's games, I think San Francisco will beat Dallas by at least 10 points, and my upset pick is Cincinnati over Buffalo by 3.

Next week I have KC beating Cincinnati, and San Francisco beating Philadelphia.

My Super Bowl pick is San Francisco over Kansas City, 34-27.

TGIF, Foto Friends.

We got a bit of unexpected yesterday/last night, but today brought clear skies and strong morning light. Consequently flowers, plants, grass and even weeds were adorned with myriad beautiful water drops/ Here's one shot of succulent blades in our front yard...

Good day all.
Well, tonight is my photo club meeting and since our president is on vacation, I get to lead the meeting.
Hopefully, all goes well.  I just have to remind myself that it is a friendly group and everyone is there to see some good photos. It is silly how I get myself stressed out over things that should not cause stress. And it is getting worse as I get older.

Well, Here is another one from Stahl's Museum, 5 out of my 9 photos tonight are from the car museum.  Good thing I made the visit a week ago and not a single one of the photos is a car.  This is one that I did NOT submit for the slide show.

Happy Hump Day, everyone.

Back into my archives to March 2017 (which was one of my very best months for photos) for this one...

Well, it is photo club week for me at my local club. And as always, you get to see a sneak preview.
Last week I mentioned that Stahl's automotive museum had a new attraction when you first walked into the building. Inside a glass case were a number of "toys" which were automated.  The challenge was to take a decent photograph through the glass with all of the reflections bouncing off of the outside.  This particular toy is probably about 30 inches tall.  It is called the WRITER.  I will try to get more information on it on the web.

Here is what the PLAQUE says that describes it:
M. Bertrand: Pierrot
"Writer"
Circa 1895
This Automation writes, grows tired and sleeps as his lamp goes out and relights.

So, I did a little more searching and found that as Pierrot writes, his head follows his hands across the page. Slowly he tires and his head drops to his chest as the lamp on his desk dims. He wakes up and his left-hand turns the lamp back on.

If you go those this website and scroll down a bit, you will see a video of this impressive animation.

Enjoy your Tuesday,
LORELL

Good Monday morning all.
It is time to start a new week.
The special assignment for my local club this month is TIME, here is one image that I shall submit.  I still have to find two more.

I've been awake for 6 hours; might as well start the Weekender.

Taken yesterday, a stray flower growing near the street...
