Hi All.
Sorry about that I have not been around lately.
We have guests with us here in Anna Maria Island and is it not polite to sit on a computer processing photos or checking on websites.
I have not been taking many photos either so far on this vacation.  
It is not because of the weather, that has been great, superb actually.  I just feel the need to find new sources and subjects and have not found that yet.

Here is one from the other day.
I tried to imitate a photographer I found on line but know that I still have a long way to go to before I come close to their expertise.

Taken on a mid-morning walk yesterday. I intentionally sought an image that wasn't my usual low key style. I also feel it could be a good image to apply the advice Grant posted about images with vibrant colors, and if that's necessary with this one I'll give it a try.

A front yard photo taken 5 days ago (yes, another succulent in a dark shadowed area) seemed to have possibilities, so I've been working on it.

1) something pretty close to SOOTC; obviously not suitable as is, but I wanted to show you what I started with...

   

2) I cropped and adjusted and made several color versions - here's one of them...

   

3) It occurred to me that I haven't done anything in grayscale for a while, so I had a go at it this morning...

Monday was a day of intermittent rain here. I managed to time my walks well enough to avoid getting soaked. Here's one shot taken during a mid-morning walk on Monday...

   

Because I usually shoot with shutter speed and aperture settings to minimize blur from hand tremors I was surprised the shot wasn't a blurred or grainy reject. Below is something close to what I started with SOOTC, although it was actually much darker - I lightened this a bit to show some barely discernible detail, otherwise it would be nearly flat black...

   

The morning light on Saturday was kind to my camera; here's an unusual and rather graceful succulent...

   

Good morning all,
Had a chance to take some photographs yesterday at the park.  It was a bit chilly but nothing like clean crisp air after a good washing of snow to clear the head.

Today I showed my granddaughters where a bearded dragon had laid her eggs some 60 days before.
Today they got to hold some baby dragons before releasing them again.
