Hi all.
I went out again this morning and bought 10 more bags of mulch. There was no one around to help me load the push cart flat bead that I had, so I did it myself.
I pushed out the heavy cart to my car, which unfortunately I had parked far away from the entrance and as I turned around from dropping in the first of 10 bags, a younger lady than myself came running up to my car and asked if she could help me. I do not like asking people for help, but she would not take no for answer. It was so nice of her to do this, and after telling her that she certainly did her good deed for the day, thanked her multiple times and said,
"God Bless You", I hope that she has a wonderful day and enjoys the feeling of showing someone compassion. Her compassion sure made me happy. What a feel good experience for me and I hope for her too.
Well, another surprise for me today just happened moments ago. I ordered a plastic rain barrel to catch the rain water so I could water my plants outside. When I get done here I will get outside and start prepping the ground, by leveling it out so that we can put the barrel next the to the back of the house under a water gutter. It was a surprise because it was suppose to arrive May 20-24. It came a day early! I am thrilled because we are expecting possible heavy storms in the next few days and think of all the water that I am going to catch. I also collect water and use it to pour over the grass in the backyard when I am out there with Ella and she does her little business. We have all kinds of brown spots and dousing her urine with water actually helps.
Well, I decided NOT to use the photo that I shared yesterday of the steps on the old steam engine. The photo was so dark and I just wasn't thrilled with it. Maybe I will save it for another meeting when we have to do a B&W photo. But here is a photo from my archive that I hope works good. I also like to have at least one photo that has a person in it. I think people add a lot to the composition. It changes the narrative. Think about removing this conductor and how the story, interest, and subject changes.
Had a beautiful day Monday so I went for a bicycle ride. I live a 1/4 mile from our College Campus. I noticed the flowering crap trees in full bloom. After my ride I cam back with my camera. I will give you a tour of the campus the next few days.
Yesterday morning DW and I went out to photograph the blood moon. It's the first time I have ever tried this, and the weather was perfect. The episode started at 03:32 and supposedly ended at 07:55, but my last shot was at 07:24, when the top of the moon dipped below the distant mountains.
This shot was taken at about 06:15, when the moon was just past max eclipse. I used my 24-240 lens set at 240 and focused using the micro focus ring. The camera was set on manual, F11, ISO 1600, and was set at 4 sec at that time. This was actually too slow to completely get rid of motion blur, next time (if there ever is one) I would aim for a 1 sec exposure or less - the earlier shots at 1/500 th are much sharper.
I worked on this image a bit. However, whether or not this is an improvement on the raw file is debatable!
It seems like we wait so long for spring and then the month of May just flies by.
Oh well, I am not complaining as I look out my window a the beautiful blue skies and trees filling their limbs with beautiful young and perfect green leaves.
Here are some spring daffodils that I photographed a the Detroit zoo.
I am enjoying Peter's editing software so much, especially now that I am bored with just the ordinary photos that I seem to be taking lately.
Have a great Saturday, all.
LORELL
Oh oh, it is Friday the 13th!
Just thought I would check to see if everyone is doing okay.
I hope that all is well with you and that all of you suffering from Paraskevidekatriaphobia are hanging in there.
Here is a photo that was taken hoping to blur most of the flowers except for one spot. And then I added further blur in post-processing to fulfill a challenge for a weekend FLICKR Group. I told myself that I was NOT going to use a flower, but so far, this is all I got.
Good morning all. Didn't get into bed until a little after midnight last night which is unusual for me. But we were downtown at the Loft Open Mic reunion until after 11 PM. I didn't even get on stage until nearly 11 myself. Here I am with friends Nonie, Gini and Joe who all played or sang on my first CD. Nonie, playing bass (sitting), played on both my CDs.
In other news, we are supposed to be going to visit dd family and see the grand babies, but DD just messaged that the oldest has a sore throat and she is taking her to the doc. So we will have to wait and see how she is before we decided we can go up or not. I know DW will be really disappointed if we can't go because she has really been wanting to see the grand kids.
Good morning all. It is 0347 and yep, I can't sleep. So I decided to start the thread for today.
Later today we'll be packing for a weekend trip up to Atlanta to visit with DD and family. We haven't seen them in a while so that will be fun. We will be going up Thu and coming home Sun. I need to prepare some hangers on a few frames and get some prints framed for an exhibition next month. Several of the members of our local photo club are displaying their work in a gallery a few miles away. I wasn't planning on doing that but there are 50 spaces available and our chapter is small so the coordinator of our group is asking everyone who will to participate. I had to get some prints made and buy more frames but that's how it is.
Hope all are having a nice, restful sleep. I'm not.
Good morning all. Another cool day here but should be really nice later. I am hoping to take a motorcycle ride later. I am sitting here listening to a robin singing outside and it is a bitter reminder that we should be on the shores of Lake Erie right not enjoying the Spring migration of warblers and other birds.
DW and I went out Saturday night to see a couple of friends play music at a wine bar up in Warm Springs. I have known these guys for quite some time now and have made many trips to the Kerrville Folk Festival (KFF) with them in the past. As you probably remember, I gave that up a few years ago. Anyway, as we were chatting after the music, KFF came up and I remarked how I missed going. So Joe, who goes every year and keeps a large 5th wheel trailer on his site year round, said if I wanted to go I could stay with him. So it is decision time for me. It will be expensive because I will have to buy festival tickets, stay in a hotel coming and going (it is a 2 day drive), buy food, gas for the truck, etc. On the one hand I don't want to intrude for 12 days, on the other hand it would be fun - probably. We are meeting them for dinner tomorrow night and I will discuss some more and make a decision then.
Hope you all are having a good week! No new photo from me, but maybe I will dig up some old photo from a previous KFF.
