My watercolor supplies finally arrived, And I have determined my palette (a split primary, meaning a warm and a cool of each primary, plus a few other colors) Now I need to spend a few days on practice mixes to get acquainted with the range of colors possible, as well as try out the new brushes. This is gonna be fun!
Here's an image taken a few days ago; I like the value contrasts and textures and hope these are enough to overcome the mundane subject...
Another week has begun; I hope it's a good one for us all.
I have two photos; The first was taken yesterday - another attempt to get a good photo of a flower that is small, delicate, and beautiful. Unfortunately, this photo of it is mediocre. But when I viewed it on the computer, it reminded me of something.
So I searched through photos taken last month until I found photo #2.
I cropped and resized both photos the same, to show the similarity.
Good morning all. Got back home yesterday afternoon after an uneventful drive back from the state park. Good to be home. I do have some adjustments to do on the weight distribution setup on the trailer though. Hope to do that today, but it is kind of raining right now. We have to take it to the dealer on Wed because of some issues with the roof. ugh. Hope it is nothing serious but it needs addressing while still under warranty.
I've got the digital photos loaded into my desktop computer and will work on them today, probably. Need to develop some film as well. Here is a sunset shot from St Mary's that I took right after having a nice seafood dinner at a place we like there. Hope all had a nice Saturday and that the weather is not too bad where you are. It has been nice and mild here but is dropping below freezing again tonight. I've decided to just put a heater in the trailer rather than completely winterize as it is only supposed to get down to about 31F.
Hello Friends,
Staying up late tonight and watching the USA vs. CANADA hockey game LIVE from the Olympics. Right now the USA is leading 3-2 and there are about 5 minutes left to period #2.
I am working on some photos that I will send to my camera club's local meeting even though I will not be there. One of the topics is SNOW LANDSCAPE. I am not sure I will be using this photo since it isn't really a landscape but could use it for the category, VB, very best.
I hope you are having a nice weekend.
I am sorry that I have been MIA, but we have some friends staying with us and it would be rude to be on my computer.
Good morning all. Today is our last full day before we head back home tomorrow morning. We will take it easy today. Yesterday was a full day of exploring the Okefenokee Swamp and then driving over to St Mary's, Georgia for a wonderful fish dinner. We were pretty knackered by the time we go back to the trailer. We will probably take a last bicycle ride around the campground before putting the bikes back on the rack for transport, and we want to check out one more hiking trail by the lake.
I took this photo at an old homestead in the swamp. Hard to imagine living smack dab in the middle, or or less, of the swamp. But it was quite the homestead, just very isolated. This photo was with my Z6. Once I get home and get some film developed I will post some more shots. Maybe some more later today from the digital camera.
While waiting quietly for some hummingbirds to visit the feeder a few days ago (one of the feeders is just to the left and above the area in the photo), I took a few shots of this dark corner of the inner yard...
Good morning all. Connected to the park WIFI this morning to see how everyone is doing. Not much planned for today so far. DW is still snoozing. We spent yesterday morning exploring some historic churches in the area. I shot several 4x5 sheets both on my pinhole and Pressman. Also some on the Mamiya 645 Pro so I'll have some film processing to do when I get home.
The trail I wanted to go on today is closed because of a scheduled control burn. Drat. Tomorrow I think we will drive down to St. Marys on the coast and have an early dinner. St Marys is a nice little historic town. Might stop by and take a nature drive though part of the Okefenokee Swamp on the way.
Good morning all.
The finish to, yesterday’s daily was interesting. Good for you Dave for pulling out your paints, pencils, brushes, etc., and making plans to feed your artistic hunger in another fashion. I did that for years when I was working by decorating cakes. I also have some tubes of acrylics that were from high school. They are the ones in the metallic tubes and they are still good inside. I am always surprised at how many photographers are painters too. As Patty said, just have fun.
Patty, you could get a job as a motivational speaker. Really. Your words and comments are always so positive and uplifting. Your photo yesterday made me want to begin a quest to collect photographs of old water towers. They have so much character and all are unique. There are plenty in Detroit still left, but most of the shots would probably be “drive-by’s. And even then, they are in areas not safe to drive around.
My way of satisfying my urge to draw, paint, and use my hands to create is zentangle. And it is totally for the purpose of relaxation AND IT WORKS. The other night, I whipped up a White on Black creation and used it for my Macro Monday upload. Maybe later I will photograph the complete square but I will start the daily with this one that I have on my computer.
I saw this very young fence lizard resting on a vertical wall on an unseasonably hot day a week or two ago. I was trying to capture the sense oh heat emanating off the wall, but failed - the photo is barely mediocre. However, in looking at it again, I think it presents a bit of an optical puzzle: Is the corner projecting towards the camera and the side walls receding, or are the walls running towards the camera and the corner farther away?
