Happy Hump Day.

I'd hoped to get photos of the recent lunar eclipse, but a cloud layer stopped that. Hours later on that morning I took a few photos of the moon, partially obscured by clouds.

Here's one: not great but considering it was shot handheld at max zoom and a slow shutter speed it could and should have been a lot worse.

Last month I posted a new photo to my WhatIsIt? thread, but no responses. So this morning I tried again with a different photo. (Scroll Down)

Another week has begun. Strange that I'm busier now in retirement than I ever was when I routinely worked 10-12 hours a day.

Lots of rain so far this year in SoCal has caused dandelions to appear in huge numbers, and I've fallen behind in eradicating them. But a few days ago I got a little unexpected help: small groups of American Goldfinches eating the seeds before they can germinate. Here's one...

Today's #1 goal is to get a new PC completely sett up. I'll need to transfer documents and settings and reinstall all the apps I use. This should take at least most of the day.

I also discovered a number of old (2001 to early 2004 time frame) drawings and watercolor sketches & studies and will try to find time to see if any are worth sharing here.

A tall succulent in our outer front yard, taken an hour ago...

Other than the usual minor adjustments in Camera Raw (in this case bumping up Clarity by 10%-15% and choosing a good Adobe Raw color space) this one is pretty close to SOOTC - no extra sharpening, no Brightness & Contrast Adjustment Layers.

Good day, folks.

This morning's sunrise featured an intense red-orange near the horizon. I managed to get a number of decent photos, but have processed just this one; the sunrise looking ESE down my street...

I'm feeling especially old today because our son turns 48. And our daughter hits the big 50 in around 6 weeks. GHEESE - where did the time go?

Good morning, afternoon, or evening.

Yesterday's sunrise taken on my first walk...

Not quite as dark as the last sunrise I posted so maybe not as dramatic. But I feel it's a better image overall

Good morning from a rainy day in Georgia. 76F right now but will be near freezing tomorrow night. Crazy weather.

More photos from the GSM trip. I had a bad setting on the fence shot so I tried to salvage as best as I could. Next two shots are photos that I converted to B&W, one from an old house in Elkmont, and another taken inside a church in Cades Cove. I wish I had taken my Yashica medium format film camera with me and shot the originals in B&W. Maybe next time...

Enjoy the weekend.

Edit: Photos removed.

Good morning all. Very mild weather here today, but turning colder by the end of the weekend. Can't seem to make up its mind.

Just returned from a short visit to the  Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and had an opportunity to actually do a little photography. First time in quite a while.  A couple of old structures that I converted to B&W, and a close-up of a chunk of quartz (I think) with some interesting plant growth. Found that in an old cemetery. Overall a good trip, mild temps and only got rain on the drive back home.

I came across this fine white & black Harley in a parking lot on 02/10/2026...

Here is the original photo, uncropped and > 90% unedited...

I couldn't get a decent shot of the entire cycle because of a badly cluttered background

I noticed this fun ride on one of yesterday's walks; was gonna post it in a Guess the Vehicle thread I started years ago but can't find that thread.

So here's one photo of the vehicle...

Feel free to guess what it is (and I have at least one more photo of it that I'll post later today.

BTW, it's for sale for around $24,500 USD - surprisingly high for a vehicle that's well over 50 years old.
