Last day of the month... time sure goes by. I think we are expecting some rain this weekend.

More photos from the cruise. I have many that I will not post as they are mostly just travel snapshots for memories. Street shots, buildings, bridges, photos taken around the cruise ship, etc. It's fun to go back after some time and view past trips. Actually, I consider these to be "travel snapshots" except for the rope, where I liked the color and pattern. The quality of the previously posted night cityscape (hand held from the stateroom) and the Statue of Liberty (not sharp) are not the best...

Good afternoon all - fingers crossed, but the forum seems to be back to normal. There were some pesky warning message arriving in my email account but I believe they have been sorted.

Here are a few more images from our trip.

Good day all.

Apparently Don has fixed the problems with the site after much work. Huge thanks to you Don.

Last week I realized that I hadn't taken any photos since mid August. So I limped (knee problems) out towards the front yard. My timing was lucky because this spot on the side of the garage gets sun less than 45 minutes a day due to shadows from our large Jacaranda tree. I got a few photos and this one turned out the best...

Not sure what is going on with the forum. I have posted in the help forum to see if anyone there can tell me what is happening. Looks like any post after  July 28 or so now has no visible images. Hopefully some help will be coming.

WoW...been a over a week since a new post! I went out to  a small car show last Sunday. Got there late but a few left. I am always a sucker for a T-Bird with a porthole. Reminds me of my youth and the American Graffiti movie with the "55 I think..T-bird in the movie with the porthole.

The other is a 1930 Ford. Belongs to a friend I worked with for many years.

New photos but old subject.
Hope all is well in your world!

Good day friends! We have been in the severe drought category most of the summer. Received good rains the past weekend and this morning. Around 5 inches total.

Here is a favorite car of mine and it is in many shows. What more could you have asked for back in the day. A '57 Chevy pulling a Coke stand! I believe I was weaned on Coke!
Have a good day!

Good day, folks.

Today marks another successful year long orbit around the sun for me. My 77th.

For nearly a week I've been unable to login here - the site kept timing out before a connection could be made.

Here's an old favorite - I can't determine exactly when it was taken but I believe it's at least 10 years ago.

It's a Black Phoebe, one of my favorite birds to watch and photograph.

The name isn't accurate; in the right light it's clear that the bird isn't a flat black. Instead it sports a nice gradation of rich browns.

I admire these small birds: they are energetic, a bit cocky, and full of curiosity.

Things I like about this photo:
  1) I think the composition is solid.
  2) The sharpness looks about right to me (I managed to control my tendency to over-sharpen).
  3) The exposure seems about right to me.
  4) I really like the blue halo around the bird's head.

One thing I might want to correct:
  1) The bit of roof extending from the lower left works OK to lead the eye into the image but I sense that it might be drawing too much attention. Maybe I should reduce the value contrast here, and also blur it a little bit so it isn't so prominent.

Went downtown to our annual carnival which used to be called Corn Palace Week but now it is 5 days. Has been going on since the Palace was built. Called the Corn Palace exposition back in the early days late 1800's and upward.
Just a few stills. I have a video on my you tube page https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-S1s-bGScg
The last photo is for Dave., ashtray helps keep our streets clean!
