Happy Hump Day (for most of us).
At least one of my daily walks take me past the former home of late friend Ron, and I am saddened at how the current owner and/or tenants have ignored Ron's once immaculate flora. The yard (not a lawn but an area of attractive decorative stones) is overgrown with weeds, plants along the garage and side walls have fared no better. And his roses get not even basic care - I doubt they have been fertilized in more than a year, they are seldom watered, don't get the recommended early spring pruning that prevents diseased plants and promotes more blossoms.
A dwindling few are still trying to survive despite being surrounded by weeds up to 7 feet tall.
What a shame; it's analogous to a formerly attractive neighborhood rapidly becoming a slum.
Here is one rose (taken yesterday) that is trying...
For Rich:
Here is a shot of the full McMansion from a few weeks ago...
When the homes were built (around 1969) in the neighborhood they were single story with a living space of 1200 to 1400 square feet. I estimate this monster at 3 to 4 times that.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
