It's Taco Tuesday here. Instead of the usual ground beef hard taco, I'm thinking of going with mesquite flavored shredded chicken thighs on large soft flour tortillas, with side dishes of rice and spicy black beans.

I'll stick with breaking out of my routine with this photo from the archives that, instead of my typical style of a dark background and the COI emphasized via strong value contrast and usuall intense colors, this one is high-key with subtle tonal variations and more restrained colors - an attempt to avoid an "in-your-face" WOW effect and try for a gentler and softer look that I hope succeeds by being calmer but still pleasing.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Good morning Dave and thanks for starting the daily. Very nice treatment of the blossom - I certainly think you achieved what you were trying to.

No tacos (yet) but DW and I are meeting some friends tonight at a local Mexican place for dinner. In a couple of weeks we are going on a cruise through the Panama Canal with them so I guess we are just going to talk about that tonight. We'll start in LA and end up in Fla. Should have some photo opportunities as we have ports of call in Cabo San Lucas (Mexico), Puntarenas (Costa Rica), Colon (Panama), Cartagena (Colombia), and Cozumel (Mexico). We have booked a whale watching tour as well as a walk touted as "Bird watchers paradise" so we'll see how that turns out. Lots of time at sea as well so might see some pelagic species as well. So yeah, maybe some nice nature shots as well as urban photos. Plus the transit through the Panama Canal. I'm only taking my Z6 with the 24-200mm zoom and a smaller wide angle lens. I'm sure I'll miss my "big" zoom on the bird walk but the 200mm will have to do.

Taco Tuesday, great idea, Dave. There are so many restaurants running that special now. I have all the ingredients too to make them. I just have to take the meat out of the freezer.

Lovely white petals, Dave. Thanks for starting the daily. The white fill-the-frame works footprints me. I have always LOVED your macro florals.

Don, it sounds like a FABULOUS cruise. What ship line are you traveling on? It will be so nice to be in the sunshine and feel the balmy breezes.

I will add a photo in a bit, still in bed relaxing.

I just finished doing some much-needed chores around the house and now I can sit and relax for a bit.
Here is the zentangle drawing that I did for this year's Christmas card.
I saw something like this on the internet and then drew it adding and subtracting my own touches. The only thing done on the computer was the TEXT, just like Rich's fine image from this past weekend.

We finally got some sun and blue skies today.  It has been so dreary, I know that a lot of people have had to be really down in the dumps the past few days.  MY Oh MY, I was thinking about getting out a sun lamp.

Yes, it does. We are a bit excited about it. This one is on Viking Cruise lines. We have never been on a Viking cruise but have heard good things about them. We did an Alaska cruise a few years ago on Princess lines and it was good, and we did an island hopping cruise while in Hawaii on Norwegian Cruise Lines which was fun. I think we would like to do another Alaska cruise if we can work it out. Also want to do a river cruise in Europe, but getting older makes if more difficult to plan.

Nice snowman by the way. We had some rain a few days ago, but now it has cleared and turned colder. It was 32F this morning when I went on my 2 mile walk. but the days are sunny.

Lovely white rose there Dave. The gentle folding of the petals adds texture and the stamens pop.

Lorell, I know nothing about zentangle. It sounds like a mystic mixup to me. Wink but a nice result.

Don, I take it that your Viking cruise will be a fjiording you will go?

I have no white roses but here is a Ginger Meggs.

No fjords on this trip, mostly central American ports of call. Although we would like to do a cruise in the Scandinavian countries which will probably never happen.

Beautiful rose.

Ginger Meggs seems to be quite the celebrity there... and over 100 years old to boot!  I have to say I had never heard of Ginger Meggs until now.
