I often wish I lived by the sea for the great sunrises or sunsets, depending on which coast. Yours is a cracker there Lorell. 
As for Dave's sky, I believe it is contrails from jets that have been disturbed by high winds. I do see similar sights often here because I am directly under the routes between Cairns and Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide, Sydney and Perth. Maybe also many other international flights.
