Hi all,
It was a cool night last evening, cool in temps and activities.
We arrived at the Car Cruise early and got a chance to walk around to the various BUSINESSES along Harper Ave to take photographs of some of the vintage beauties parked in their lots. I wish I would have dressed warmer because it was a cool evening, low 60's and NO SUN until 7 pm! The real show started at 5 pm and the three mile stretch was blocked off so cars could travel south three miles and then make a loop and travel three miles north the same road. This gave us the chance to see several cars more than once.
For the first hour it was quiet and then at about 6:30, the driver's started revving their engines, burning rubber and blowing horns. That atmosphere really changed and got a lot more exciting. However, after being there since 4 pm, we were tired of smelling all the burnt rubber and loud noses, it was time for us older people to go home. I am sure that some of those cars put on old tires just so they could burn rubber.
This car cruise is a lot smaller than the Dream cruise which takes place on the divided road with four three lanes of traffic on each side of a wide grassy medium. Last night's roadway had only two lanes on each side of a left turn lane. It was a lot more intimate as I sat on the curb and watched cars pass me within feet of my lens.
It was fun and good to get out with my camera.
I can't say that I got many good shots, but that was okay. Going out with the photo club is always fun and bringing back memories is even better.
Don,
My favorite is #2. Adding to Rich and Dave's remarks, I like the mood present and hope that you can recover some of the details in the two boats. After the awesome sky catches you EYE, it is the two boats that will hold your interest as you look more closely at all the details. Maybe you can lighten the names of the boats that appear on their sides, or the textures and apparatus on them, especially the one on the right.
If I had to pick a second, it would be #2. I love the details and glow. It is like the yellow fuzzies have lightbulbs in them.
Rich,
Last night my husband opened the side door to let out the dog and it looked like we had a flood light lighting up the drive way. He pulled me outside to have me look at the moon. Wow, was it bright. Good capture, Rich.
Dave, that is a sweet little birdie. Nice crop and framing job too.
This firetruck looked really old. I think it is partly made of wood as I can see painting pealing off of the front panel in front of the driver's legs.
The horn on this thing was really cool.
