Thank you Peter MFIB!
Your soil has the same iron color as ours. Ours being a heavy clay. It contrasts with greenery real pretty!
Your better half shares your love of nature and beauty….that’s perfect!
Our winters are short and not as cold as they used to be, with less snow.
I love our winter time, but color is subdued with bare trees.
I like your photo! Interesting colors and natural textures.

Very nice!

We took the motorcycles out Sunday morning...it was in the mid 60's--beautiful ride and long over due!
Drove down to Bostwick and back. 4 counties. We try to be back before the roads heat up.
Getting any miles in yourself?

According to what I found on line it was made in 2020, so relatively new. I still need to clean it up and re-string it.

I have been getting in some miles, mostly around the area on the back roads. I got in about 100 miles last week. I like to go early as well before it gets so blasting hot.

I have made a few false starts on the CD, but I looked today and discovered I have several songs recorded that I can rework a bit and use. And a few newer ones that I need to record. Fun stuff.

Don, have you recorded Cd's previously? Are they for sale?

Patty, most of our red soil is a sandy loam. Our clays are amongst the densest/oldest on the planet.

Yes, bare trees for half the year. We have planted a lot of deciduous trees since Europeans came and started knocking down the evergreens and these areas do look stark in winter. Shade in summer though. A trick the Eucalypts play to conserve moisture is to turn their leaves edge on to the sun so that transpiration is kept to a minimum. This makes them almost useless as a shade tree in summer.

However, we get way more snow than Switzerland in Australia and the snow gums are generally the only Eucalypt that will survive above the snow line. Attractive they certainly can be.

and when the snow melts..

If you put a map of Switzerland on the map of Australia, it looks as small as a postage stamp.

MFIB, it has been quite a while since I recorded a CD, which were done in my "home studio". I used to have physical copies available at CDBaby.com but they are no longer available there. You can do a Google search for Don L Williams Dry Rain or Don L Williams Back to Nothingville and you can find several streaming services where you can listen or purchase an MP3 of singles or the entire album. Interestingly enough, Amazon seems to have a physical copy of "Back to Nothingville" CD which they have a price of $60.95! Ridiculous. I assume it must have been purchased from CD Baby early on but it wasn't that much on CD Baby. More like 10-12 US dollars. It cost me just about that much to produce the CD so profit margin was very small. Needless to say I have not come close to breaking even, but that is fine. I didn't do the CDs to make money, I just wanted to have something to pass on to the children. When (or if) I do another "CD" I am not sure if I will even have a physical CD manufactured. I still have quite a number of both of my CDs here at home, which are currently sitting on a shelf in a box.  Big Grin

Sorry for the rambling reply. Smile

By the way, great colors in that last photo and interesting landscapes as well.

Well, I am coming to the party late again! What a great thread and good to see lots of activity and great photos. WELCOME BACK Patty! Glad all is well with you!
I would be remiss if I didn't make a comment on the unusual (for me) pastel striped trees Peter. They are a treat to the eyes!

As President of our Home Owners Association for the condo building I have been busy. Our elevator, actually only a lift has been shut down. Deemed unsafe. A 1995 vintage. We are looking for one that will fit right in but our options are limited. The building is 3 stories and we have 2 owners that can't use stairs. They are hanging in there but it is going to be a long process I am afraid.

Hi damar; glad you're doing well. Nice capture of that old rustic building.

Don, the gold/amber/brown color of the guitar is lovely, enhanced by the neutral gray of the case lining.

MFI, that's a very photogenic tree that your better half is shooting. And the snow gum photos are top-notch.

Hi Rich. That's a tough situation with the elevator.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Don. Smile It only rains on me That man has a great love for you.

It is a little embarrassing that I didn't put the two words, Don and Williams together and think about it previously. I've enjoyed your music for many years. Smile

Oh wow…MFIB…those newest posted tree photos are stunning!
They almost look unreal! Beautiful!
Interesting about the leaves turning edgewise to the sun.

We could use some nice sandy loam.
Floodplains are good for that here. But our yard is mostly clay and a classification called
“Hard labor”

My yard isn't sandy loam. Calcerous clay loam on top of calcrete. It has taken decades of work and hundreds of tonnes of organic matter to grow anything at all.
