Tuesday June 21st - Man From Ironbark - 06-20-2022

Managed to get out to the nearby hills on the weekend.

Though my broken foot hasn't healed well enough to go mountain goat again. Probably will have to tone that activity down for the rest of my time on earth.

The usually arid skeletal soils were showing green.

and the promise of abundance of terrestrial orchids is evident in these greenhood rosettes.

Huge mushrooms Boletus species.

Which I did manage to get a camera under, is already being eaten away from underneath.

RE: Tuesday June 21st - Luv2shoot - 06-21-2022

PETER, Thanks for starting the daily.
Sorry to hear about your foot and how it is restricting you from activities that you probably enjoyed so much in the past. It seems that many of us are experiencing things like that as we get older.  It just seems to be happening so fast now.

Glad to see that your spring is on its way. You sure do have a short winter.  Lucky you.

My stomach is all upset right now because I am worked up.  Somehow I messed up the settings on my camera and I cannot figure out how to get them back to the original factory settings.  I have looked on the internet and followed the directions that they have given, but things are still totally wrong.  I will have to look further into the problem, but in the meantime, I will walk away from the issue because I am so upset.  It happened while I was shooting this past week.  I had to have pushed some buttons incorrectly and reprogrammed the system.

But anyway, here is a snapshot from up at our trailer

RE: Tuesday June 21st - Dave - 06-21-2022

Nice images, MFI. Some rugged country there.

Hi Lorell. Sorry about your camera problems. I've done similar things 4 or 5 times - unintentionally pressing a combination or sequence of buttons that left my camera in an unwanted state for a while. Very nice photo - as always, your treatment suits the subject.

Sorry, no new photos from me. I've been busy with other things, one of which has been getting my newly-purchased chainsaw working. I had to make an extra trip to Home Depot to get some lubricating oil for the chain and blade - using the chainsaw without it is like driving your car without any motor oil. But the difference is that when you buy a car, it comes with oil. A local hardware store charges over $10 for less than 2 ounces; what I got at Home Depot was 1 quart for a little more than $10.

RE: Tuesday June 21st - damar - 06-21-2022

Hello Everyone!
Yes, I live! LOL..we have just been busier than I'd like.
We designated 2022 the year of "Getting Things Done" and it's happening.
I have missed you all!

Hi MFIB! What a pleasure to see your nature shots! What a beautiful variety of plants, fungii and rock.
So sorry about your foot and hope you'll be able to boast a miraculous healing.

Hi Lorell!!!
So sorry about your camera frustration. Some cameras allow us to create "shooting banks" where we can make a series of settings and save them (ie: shooting in bright outdoor light) and then create another bank for different settings (ie: indoor with flash)
Look to see if you accidentally created another shooting menu in a folder in your camera menu.
Your original default settings may be in the default menu.

Hi Dave!
Congrats on your new chainsaw!
They are a must have!

Speaking of chainsaws, DH took out 3 huge oak threes this month. Scary huge and close to the house.
All went well. We have some nice lumber potential but no way to load it up and take it to a saw mill.
So it's looking like firewood. Luckily we have a log splitter. One of the oaks was a 70 ft, 8 foot circumference and almost 30' diameter. 6 tons? something like that.

I closed out my FlickR account because they wanted all of my photos to go public and I did not.
So I'll have to see if my attachment works

This is from last month...have not been out on shoots much. This was just a drive-by.

RE: Tuesday June 21st - Don - 06-21-2022

Good afternoon everyone.

Nice images to start the day! Hopefully your injury will continue to heal and you will be back to your old self soon, or as close as you can get anyway. It does get more difficult the older we get. I was at the lab this morning to get blood work and and an EKG in preparation for an annual physical and there was a lady in there who was 94 years old. I know because I happened to hear her tell her birthday to the nurse. She had a walker but seemed to be getting around pretty well all things considered.

Hope you get your camera issues sorted out soon Lorell. That can be so upsetting. Sometime what you find on line just doesn't work. Can you track down the official manual for it? Nice treatment of the bird house, very vintage looking.

Hi Dave. No new photos from me either, except a photo of my father's day present to myself.  Smile  I picked up this used 12 string acoustic guitar last Friday.

Welcome back Patty - don't stay absent so long. You had us all worried. Nice shot of the abandoned structure.

I have been spending a lot of time recently getting back into my music and neglecting photography. I didn't even take a lot of shots when I was in Texas.

Time now for lunch. Good to see a lot of the regulars on here today.

RE: Tuesday June 21st - damar - 06-21-2022

Aww!!! Nice 12-string, Don!
I thought it might be a Gretch, but the logo looks a bit long for "Gretch".
And there you are..all broke in and nice sounding, huh?
Sometimes it's good to change out the hobbies for a time. Come back refreshed.

RE: Tuesday June 21st - Don - 06-21-2022

Thanks Patty - It is a Guild. It does sound pretty good. Smile  I haven't abandoned photography but I am doing more music right now. Working on a third CD, off and on. Since you have been absent, I did get to go back to Kerrville this year for a couple of weeks. It was good to see almost all of my old Texas friends and play a lot of music while I was there.

RE: Tuesday June 21st - damar - 06-21-2022

Ah Ha! A Guild! What year is it? Any idea?
Very nice!
I used to have an Alvarez 12 string that was stolen out of my house back when I lived in FL. (late 70s)
They took the guitar and left the case. I didn't even notice it right away because I kept the guitar in the case under my bed.
I pulled the case out and it was empty.
Arlo Guthrie: "and I started jumpin' up and down yellin'.....(you know the rest!)
LOL
Very pretty guitar. It's good to keep your calluses working and keeping in touch with your friends!
Good luck on your new CD endeavor!
The quilt underneath is pretty!

We took the motorcycles out Sunday morning...it was in the mid 60's--beautiful ride and long over due!
Drove down to Bostwick and back. 4 counties. We try to be back before the roads heat up.
Getting any miles in yourself?

RE: Tuesday June 21st - Man From Ironbark - 06-21-2022

Good to see you are well Patty. Also great to know that you are keeping busy. Smile Sad about your guitar being stolen.

Our winters may appear short but it is more that they aren't as cold and snowed in as yours may be, Lorell.

The climate has changed heaps in my lifetime. Our record was 75 consecutive frosts and an average of 35 consecutive frosts, 60 years ago.
Nowdays that's gone completely awry in that we barely get five consecutive frosts per year over the past decade.

Here is my better half attempting to photograph that Grevillea shown above.
