One day in the early 2000s I spotted this American Goldfinch devouring the last seeds of a large sunflower in our front yard. (Photo reprocessed April 26, 2024.

I'm hoping those in the US Midwest stay safe from the violent weather.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, that is an awesome capture! A winner for sure! Composition and shadow detail wonderful!

Thanks for your concern on our weather. We just got a nice rain here but further south and east, Nebraska and Iowa got hammered! They are hurting today.
Will throw in a photo later.

Thanks, Rich.

Somewhere I have a similar photo of an animal upside down and devouring sunflower seeds, but this one was a squirrel - a very stubborn squirrel because it wouldn't stop even when I poked it with my finger. I finally chased it away with a burst of water from a garden hose.

Yeah, it looked to me that the path of destruction passed south of you. But it seems to be heading NE, putting parts of Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan in the path. But it looks like the worst of it may go north of Detroit, so here's hoping all Lorell gets is rain.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

That really is a good shot, Dave! Almost looks like the bird has a long feather on it's head!

Dave, he looks like he's hanging on well and enjoying his meal. I'm glad I can't eat upside down like that.

Hi Steve and Natalie!

Here is one of the early banks built before 1910 I believe. It was the Mitchell National Bank. The 55 Chevy wagon is a favorite of mine!

Thanks Natalie and Quint.

Neat bank building and neat Chevy. The earliest car I remember my parents having was a 57 Chevy (sedan, not wagon), two-tone - white and yellow.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Nice bank shot, Rich. Just look how fancy buildings used to be. Today, they all are bland concrete monstrosities.
