I thought that I would start the daily since I plan on sleeping in late tomorrow morning or grabbing my camera and heading out to the parks to see if I can get a few more photos of spiderwebs. I took the one below this morning. Luckily the heavy rains the night before did not wipe out the web. But I sure got lucky here. When I looked closer at the first couple of photos I took in-camera, I noticed the intruder on the LEFT. There was going to be a faceoff for sure. The spider on the right was standing his ground as the intruder on the left challenged him. It is not often to be lucky enough to capture a face-off like this one.

Rather a special photo. Wish I'd taken it.
Did you see the end of the battle? Did one spider end up being food for the other or did they see reason and scuttle off in different directions?
Made me think about some of my spider photos.
Thank you, Peter. Yes I did see the attack. The spider on the right, who was guarding the entrance to his home (see the dark black hole in the upper right corner) charged lefty who ran off and hid someplace in the bushes. It all happened in a split second.
It looks like your little spider is getting a piggyback ride from a rather plump friend. Good find, Peter.
Hi Everyone!
Thanks for starting the Daily, Lorell.
Really cool spider stand-off photo.
Yours is pretty fascinating too, Peter! I assume the spider is carrying her egg sac and picked up
a hitch-hiker along the way?
I took this snapshot Sunday on our way back from lunch.
We took a dirt road for part of the way home.
That chimney looks like an after-thought.
I'm wondering if the little spider is riding on a parent's back.
Nothing new from me, and I'm sorry I've been AWOL for a couple of days. Haven't been feeling great - maybe our week-long uncharacteristic heat & humidity has worn me out a bit.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Lorell, what a great shot of the spiders! I wonder if that is male and female? Usually the male spider is the smaller one.....you got some great detail on the spiders!! Looks like you were lucky to get a stream of light to hit the spiders! Well done!!
Peter, love how that spider's legs are translucent. A tad dark, but nice capture of them both.
Patty, that's a pretty neat shack....nobody lives in it, I guess? or do they? Really rustic siding on it.
Hi, Dave!! Hope you feel better.
Going to try to cut some grass.....I have had pretty dry weather all summer, so didn't need to cut grass much, but then we got a rainy day or two, and crispy brown grass has suddenly jumped two feet tall!!

Reworked those. To see if I could lighten them up.
There's some speculation but I'd suggest that this may simply be the male doing the piggy backing. At least he's safe from mummy's mandibles.
Lorell, what a great find and awesome capture! Well done! Love the story!
Peter, interesting spider, the legs are amazing as is the body and the hitchhiker.
Patty, looks like a nice home for Halloween festivities!
Chimney definitely an add on or afterthought. Maybe they couldn't pay the gas bill so decided to go with a wood burner. Lots of free fuel around it looks like!
Dave, be sure you hydrate. Sixty four ounces of pure water is what I shoot for in that kind of weather. AC dries you out too!
Hope you're better.
Hi Natalie! Good luck with the grass harvest!
Nothing from me today. I have a photo I am saving for Halloween of a house a few blocks from me all decorated. A little early but they must like that day! Of course around these parts we could have snow next month. Wouldn't be fun to decorate in that.
Patty, I like riding dirt roads. Nearly always something interesting to see.
Hope you are feeling better Dave. I was a little under the weather a couple of days ago myself, but it may have been just being tired.
I went on a nice long ride this morning to the east to check out a National Wildlife Refuge. Good ride (about 200 miles round trip) but the NWR was a disappointment. Not much to see there so not likely to return. Beautiful weather though. I actually had to stop and pull on some long sleeves as my mesh jacket was a little chilly. I guess cooler/colder weather will soon be on us.
And, good news, got DS car out of the shop tonight. So, no more taxi service for a while.
