Good morning, Dave, Nice flower and I love that dark left side with the outlined leaf.

Here's a recent shot of my raised bed with some bush beans popping up. I have black mulch fabric that I covered with orange barrier plastic for an easy grid pattern. I cut an X with a pair of scissors and push a bean seed down. When they sprout they open the "door" themselves.

Dave, one of the most elegant and beautiful flowers ever.  I don't know if it is because of the vibrant gradient color, perfect petals, simple elegance, or all of the above, but it is one of my favorites.  We leave Florida before the the blooming season begins.  If the temps start to get warmer down there, though, maybe someday I will be able to take a photo of one. This past February was one of the cooler times we have experienced.  Thanks for sharing this gorgeous bloom.

Steve, that is quite clever of you to and it appears it is working nicely.
I look every day to see if my tomatoes have grown any.  We are getting so much rain that I do not need to water them.

I have been MIA lately, has a lot on the plate.  Yesterday morning's dental appointment ended up returning in the afternoon to get a crown!  OMG, I think almost every tooth in my mouth has a crown. It was a long 1.5-hour procedure but my dentist is so good and makes sure that I am comfortable and feeling no pain.  I love my dentist!

Well, this photograph was taken at the Detroit Zoo.  This zoon no longer has elephants.  It has been some time now that they were removed from the zoo.  But this tree reminds me a little of an elephant's skin or maybe a rhino.  I have some photos of the too which I can share at a later date.

Got to go now and check what has been going on this week around here.

I can't leave any plastic laying around in the sun here. It all turns to smaller and smaller pieces of plastic that are a real pain to sift out of the dirt.

If I have a pet hate, it is for those who created plastic.

I hear ya, Peter. Yes, everything has plastic in it. Even our clothes.

Microplastics have been found in our blood and lungs. Let alone in birds and fishes guts.

Dave, that is a beautiful image! I love the softness of it.

Steve, a heck of a good idea!

Lorell, it sure is amazing you can get a crown made and applied the same day. The last one I got was three hours. He actually has a machine that makes them from a scan of the area it is going in. Not cheap though!

Your image definitely looks like skin!

Thanks Lorell, Quint, and Rich for the nice words about the plumeria shot. Plumeria are so photogenic that it's really hard to take a bad shot of them.

A simple 3-component formula for getting more good photos works for me: 1) be in the right place; 2) at the right time; 3) with camera ready.

1) Be in the right place: to me this starts with walking regularly - lots of walking.

2) At the right time: I avoid the harsh light of the middle day, and I'm learning more about the behavior of birds and what times of day improve the odds of getting good bird shots.

3) Camera ready: when I set out on a walk, I note the light and choose initial camera settings (I usually set the shutter speed and let the camera calculate an appropriate aperture, but I may tweak one or both) that I think give me the best chances of getting adequately exposed and sharp photos.

Quint, that sounds like a simple and effective system.

Lorell, I'm glad your tooth pain was gently resolved. Quite an interesting tree and as always, well-captured.

MFI, I agree 100% - the proliferation of plastics is one of too many ways we're fouling our own nest, destroying the only place we can live.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Rich, I have a temp on my tooth right now. I have to wait three week before the permanent one comes in.
The dentist that I left three years ago had a machine that would make the crown as you sat there and waited. The doctor kidded and said, "let me show you my Mazzarrati", as he pointed to the machine. It took me a moment to get it. I left this guy shortly after that when I felt he was maybe pushing me too hard to get some things done to my teeth that I didn't need to pay for his "Mazzarrati". My family felt the same way. Then when the dental hygenist quit his practice and LATER when I ran into her at a food store, she told me that she quit because she felt that he was doing things that were not quite right. I now have a dentist that I feel is honest and so nice. I can actually say that "I love my dentist".

Lorell, thanks for sharing that story. I have had some of the same feelings with my dentist too. He is always getting new high tech "toys." I did check on my crown with another dentist. I would have to have a temp as you do but the cost was very close so I didn't change. I still may someday!
