I have no new photos worth sharing, so here's on I probably posted on WetCanvas long ago. It's a male Allen's hummingbird at one of the feeders in our inner front yard, taken 15 + years ago...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Good morning, Dave.
That is a lovely image to start the Tuesday daily. Very nice day.  Such a pretty background too.

My daughter and I are heading out for a week's shopping trip. We are going on a tour bus to Michigan's Upper Peninsula on a  Quilter's "shot hop".  This hobby is something new for both of us and we are pretty geeked about this shopping trip with 50 other quilt enthusiasts who will be dropping dollars in the coffers of about a dozen small Privately owned quilt shops. 82 quilt shops in Michigan are participating in this event but we will only be stopping at the ones located in the uppermost part of the lower Peninsual and those in the Upper Peninsula.  We will be gone for 4 days and three nights.

This activity aims to bring business to the small business owners struggling to stay alive. My daughter and I will do our best to help the cause. (giggle giggle).
Not only do I get to go shopping for fabrics, gadgets and ideas, I get to spend it with my daughter who is probably more excited than I am.

Well, it is time for me to finish packing.  But first I will leave you with the following TWO images.
The first is the original Farm Tool Image that Natalie request to see and the second was a quicky that I captured while driving around Amish country near our trailer.  I thought it was okay to take this photo and share it since you cannot see the farmer's face.  I call this photo "A Two Horse Power Tractor".

Till later,
LORELL

Hi, Lorell. Enjoy shopping....I did a LOT of quilt (machine) piecing and hand quilting in the 70's and 80's. Had a lot of sore fingers!!  One of my favorites was a design I did on an all white sheet and quilted ....was beautiful when it was done. I wish I had taken photos. The quilts were for the Church of the Brethren relief auctions. I made one for myself but I have never finished it. I should do that at some point. ......don't know where my quilting frame is now.....maybe in the attic???  There are some amazing patterns out there now. Let us know what you decide to do.
I compared your color and your b&w, I like them both equally. I had thought the color one would bring out the plow more, but it is about the same. Love the Amish farmer turning the hay. Their work is harder than the modern machine farmers, but I bet they get a lot more satisfaction at the end of the day.....When I was a girl, we had one cow, and only a small hay field. My parents cut the hay with a long handled scythe and us kids turned it the next day with hand made wooden rakes. Then pitched (pitch forks) it onto a wagon  and pitched it into the barn.  Hot summer work.

Dave, nice shot of your hummer...nice and sharp! ...yours are different from ours. Ruby throated hummer. Let's see if I, too, can find a shot I took years ago.....what is amazing is that with a flick of a neck muscle, those red neck feathers appear black, no red at all....love to watch them. This one is a male. Female does not have the ruby neck.

Thank you, Natalie, for the kind words.

Wow, that ruby neck band so beautiful. Your photo very sharp with a lovely soft background .

I cannot imagine quilting by hand. It is hard for me even using a sewing machine but at least my fingers do not get sore. Our Amish friends are making some pretty impressive quilts, Their quilting is beautiful and skillfully done. So far, just the two oldest daughters quilt. I wish I would have taken a photo of the most recent one they completed.

Happy shopping Lorell. When I was quite young the family often drove from southern Michigan to vacation in the UP. Some of these trips entailed taking a ferry north, because the Mackinac bridge was still being built.

Two nice photos. The first has a nice flow and excellent depth. The second is very fine; Convert it to sepia and it would appear too be a shot from 100 + years ago.

Thanks for the kind words about the Allen's hummer.

Hi Natalie, and thanks.

What a handsome creature that Ruby-throated hummingbird is, and expert;y photographed. I remember seeing them as a child in Michigan; I think my fascination with and appreciation of hummingbirds started those nearly 70 years ago.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Some very nice photos here.
Compliments all round.
Great hummer shots and really red neckband.
Great colour in all photos. The hand scarifier is easier to identify in your colour photo, Lorell. Love the two horsepower tractor.

The lady from ironbark was a great hand quilter, patchworker, weaver back before her arthritis made the fingers bend sideways.
Happiness simply is.
There need be no pursuit.

Excellent hummer shot Dave! Good composition!

Lorell, I like the mono tone and color one equally. The crop was the right thing to do.
Really like the Amish photo. A hard working man! Dave had a good idea to make it a sepia!

I was in the UP many years ago. Went to Mackinac Island. Quite a place. Have fun with your daughter on the quilting trip!

Natalie, what a pretty bird. Great shot! Very majestic looking!
Focus on what brings you joy! ~Unknown~
