Last week was a tough one for my husband and I. We lost our sweet boxer, Ella, a week ago Sunday. It has been so crushing. She was diagnosed with thyroid cancer three years ago and it had traveled to her lungs. In January, our vet told us she probably had 4-6 months to live. She was still eating, playing, and "being Ella", but Sunday evening she had a seizure. It was horrible to watch as she struggled to recover from the event. It was painful to watch. Since her lungs were filled with cancer, she was struggling to breathe. There was nothing we could do to help her. After two hours, we decided it was time. It was not fair to make her struggle like this. We were able to take her to a 24-hour vet at 10:30 pm. When we arrived, they carried her from our car into their building.
It was sad, but peaceful as we said goodbye. But like they say, "They leave a piece of their heart with us and take a piece of our hearts with them" when they leave. She was the BEST DOG ever, "She was MY dog". It will take a long time to get over this one. I know you all have been there and understand.
My son was out of town for the weekend and we brought his cat to our house to "cat sit". That little cat filled such a void. He is very affectionate and cuddly, besides playful. It sure helped to pick up our spirits. He is back home now.
Well, I look forward to viewing your image, Peter.
Thanks for starting the daily.
Till later,
LORELL
Lorell, my heartfelt sympathy to you and your family. I know you loved her very much just by the photos you shared with us. Grief is different for everyone, knowing the cat helped you to be comforted is awesome! Take your time.
Pete, I'll check out your new batch later today - looking forward to seeing the images.
Lorell, I'm so sorry about your loss of Ella. Yes, dogs leave a piece of their hearts with us, but losing one takes a big bite out of our hearts.
Rich, nice photo of the bridge; it captures another aspect of the Midwest. I remember bridges like that from my youth in Michigan, vacations around the Midwest, and college in Wisconsin.
Beautiful weather today in my part of SoCal: clear skies, and temps will top out in the mid 70s.
You all know what McMansions are, I assume - when somebody builds a house that is far too massive for the size of the lot. I hate them. Here's a small part of one in my neighborhood, photographed this morning...
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Dave! Lots of wooden bridges left in the upper midwest! We got 3/4 inch of rain so far and more to come they say. Nothing severe. My weather radio didn't go off at all last night.
Edit to add: Interesting looking home, would like to see a wide shot of it and the lot.
Thank you, Dave and Rich, for your comforting words.
Rich, that is a sharp shot of the bridge. The golden lighting plays a major part in making the an eye-catching image. The reflection adds interest because it is awesome. The composition is great, great colors too.
Dave, lots of interesting shapes and lines. The shadows double the lines! An interesting capture with perfect lighting.
Lorell, so very sorry. Sent you a PM
Rich, that is a great shot of the bridge, love the reflections!
Dave, that does look like a massive house....as Rich says, would like to see full view, maybe when restorations are finished. Interesting roof lines and color.
