Saturday & Sunday, March 9 & 10, 2024

Hello Friends.
I hope that your weekend is off to a good start.
I am in the middle of sewing a baby quilt and I and about 2/3 done. The next part is the fun part for me when I get to quilt it.  That means sewing all the pretty spirals and curls the bind the top, middle puffy fabric, and backing. All that practice "Zentangling" has paid off.

This Saturday's challenge for the SMILE ON SATURDAY group was "Funny Art".  Here is the photo that I posted on FLICKR yesterday.  I took this photo at the Marietta's Museum of Art and Whimsy.  This museum is located in Sarasota, Florida.  The photo was taken in the women's bathroom, there is art everywhere!

Have a good day, all.
Do you remember the nursery rhyme, THE CAT AND THE FIDDLE?

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle, the cow jumped over the moon.

That is an awesome piece of artwork for a  bathroom! Good capture.

Here is one from Match 16th, 2006 at the Hurst Castle in California

Cheers to you both. Yes I do recall the rhyme.
There's art everywhere in both posts.

Good morning all. Lorell, that is quite creative. I too remember the rhyme. Smile  I have never been the to Hurst castle Rich. I was in the area for some Navy training and had a day off, and some of us decided to so some sight seeing. We had to decide between that and Universal Studios and chose the Studios.

Been busy lately trying to get ready for our trip next month. Not the least which has been gathering all the "documents" needed in order to rent a car in Ireland. If you are 75-79 there are several hoops to jump through. I have a doctor's appointment Tuesday so that I can get a letter from a physician stating that I am healthy enough to drive. Also have to have a clean driving record for the past 5 years which I had to get from the DMV. Some of the places we are staying are out in the boonies, so I have been making dinner reservations, held with a credit card. If you don't show up, your card is charged a fee. Understandable I suppose. I am going to pre-book a couple of lake cruises as well.

I am also in the process of selling 4 of my lenses that I no longer use and am deciding what to do with the proceeds. Kind of thinking about buying a used Nikon Z6 ii body but haven't decided for sure. In addition to the 2 memory slots the Z6 ii has some internal improvements including include two EXPEED 6 processors, which improves many aspects of the camera, including its buffer, autofocus, and continuous shooting speed. Do I really need to upgrade? Probably not.

Here is a photo from the passage through the Panama Canal. I liked the symmetry and color. It is cropped from the original photo.

The baby quilt will be donated to an organization that collects between 800-1000 premie blankets each year. They are for the neonatal unit They are used to cover the plexiglass structure that the premies are placed in to be monitored, given life supporting apparatus if needed, receive transfusions, nourishment, regulate temperature surrounding the newborn, and so on depending on the needs of the baby. Because of the bright light overhead in the neonatal ward, and the babies laying on their backs, if they open their eyes, their vision could be severely/ permanently damaged. So each “cubicle” has a quilt placed over the top. When the infant is released from the ward, the blanket is given to the parents to take home.

There are 12 hospitals in the area that appreciate the quilters in our area for their blankly donations.

Don, I need to sell my old Nikon stuff. I keep getting emails from camera stores saying that they want USED GEAR. I like the signs. The stop sign is the same hexagon shape as ours, interesting.

Rich, interesting as well. It is all women top and bottom correct?

Don, I had no idea that it was that way to travel overseas. Lots of detail. I think if I ever did it I would book an organized tour through our travel club at my bank. They have been there but I didn't go.
Good luck with the selling and buying of the camera and accessories.
Yes I agree on your photo, well seen and photographed.

Lorell, yes, a very noble cause, well done! Yes it is all women.

Rich, that is only for Ireland. There are apparently no stipulations for renting a car in Scotland, or at least none were listed in our travel information. On to see the doc this morning to see about getting the letter from him stating I am fit to drive. Another hoop to jump through.

Quite the variety of photo subjects, folks. Good work.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
