Thanks for starting the Friday Daily, MFI.
I like your sunset photo: well-composed, intense colors, and the values were handled very well - no blown-out whites, and the darks show some detail instead of being a boring flat black. I have c colorful one too; A Morning Glory macro from July 2017... Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him! Nikon D7500 with Nikkor 18-300 mm; PSE2021, PSCS5 Ny Flickr Albums

Thanks for starting the daily Peter. Quite a striking sunset.
I like the macro Dave, very artistic. Been taking it easy here, day to day. BIL has been in the hospital (still is, actually) recovering from back surgery. Had some issues but seems to be on the road to recovery now so good news. Here's a little story from New Mexico. Arrived, checked in to hotel and started to get ready for the next morning at Bosque del Apache NWR. I had packed my travel tripod in my checked bag so I got it out to put on the spotting scope. Travel tripod would not unfold... one leg refused to cooperated. Tried everything to get it to work, no luck. Had no tools with me. Hmmm. Set it aside with the thought of just chucking it rather than carry it back home. Socorro is a relatively small town but it did have a Walmart, so off we went in search of a cheap tripod to get us by. Found one for about $25 that we purchased and used for the duration of the trip. It was adequate, but just barely. Come time to pack up to fly home and decided to take the "broken" tripod back home. Once home I was shopping for a replacement travel tripod and was just about to buy one from B&H photo when I decided to take a last look at the broken one. Found the proper Allen wrench and removed the offending tripod leg, and discovered that the internal screw had worked itself loose. This was not obvious until I took it apart. So, I screwed it back in, assembled the leg, and voila, as good as new. I came so close to discarding that tripod in NM. Saved myself some $$ by bringing it back home and repairing it. So, never give up without a fight. Hope all have a good day and upcoming weekend.

Hi all,
Those are wonderful images to brighten our day. Peter, "fire in the sky". Yours is dramatic, colorful and balanced. I love the silhouette. Thinking about it, silhouettes are one of my favorite categories of photography. Nicely done, Peter. Dave, The lighting and contrast also add drama to your tall composition. The complimentary colors work well too in this beautiful floral. Don, I am glad that your story had a happy ending. A similar thing happened to me when I was traveling in Europe. I was with a tour to seven countries and when running through a train station in Italy I dropped my camera . The camera would NOT work. I have no idea what was wrong but I was a 1st year (POOR) teacher and since we were travelling from country to country I could not drop it off and get it fixed. So, I was unable to take photos. The extra cash that I brought was going to be used to buy a new clock in Switzerland. I was more into clocks than camera at the time. I was still very bummed for the rest of the trip but didn't let it ruin my trip. When I got home and turned on the camera, it worked! I have no idea why, but it did. Looking back now, I still have the clock, but no longer own the camera. IT was a RICOH. Well, I worked on my PROUD TO BE AMERICAN but didn't come up with anything yet worth sharing. I shall have to keep working on it. In the meantime, I will share this image that should be new to you. I call it "Boots on the Ground". I know what that phrase signifies, but I think it also is appropriate for this composition. Your critiques are encouraged and appreciated.

Never give up is part of how I managed to learn how to make watches and clocks go again.
