Thanks for starting a Daily, MFI. I wonder if it'll be just the two of us.

Lovely sunrise or sunset photo; everything works: composition (including negative space), values, depth, and color all get top marks.

I reworked (new crop and moderate reprocessing) a shot from July 2018. I especially like the colors, because I find that yellow & gold vs gray and blue-gray to be an especially nice combo...

I've really enjoyed this World Cup and am looking forward to the final two games. I am disappointed that some of my favorite teams (USA, Australia, and Brazil and others) didn't do as well as I had hoped. On the other hand it was great to see other teams exceed expectations and do so well - Morocco, Nigeria, Colombia, and Japan come to mind.

One trend that was impossible for me to ignore really irks me - I sure could do without all the tattoos. Call me old-fashioned, but do these young women really think these are attractive? And did they consider that gravity and age will win in time, distorting the body art as tissues sag and skin wrinkles.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Dave, your photo had me singing the song, forever autumn. I do love the colour contrast and the lines.

As to the World cup. Two things stand out.
That women's fooball has firmly cemented a place for itself in the World cup.
It seems to have a more sporting feel than the mens game
and like Monty Python's Spanish inquisition, there'll be more reasons..
As for having more viewer participation than not only the men's game but more viewers than any television program ever.
As having done more for freedom of expression of sexuality than tennis.
The tattoo thing? I'm not sure apart from the fact that tattoos have gained in popularity across all society.
I agree, it doesn't actually make a person more beautiful. More that it gives one more to look at about a personality.
I have found myself wondering what the hell has Sam Kerr has tattooed on her fingers. Not that I usually am interested in tattoos.

Thanks for your response to my photo and my World Cup musings.

I've never before been told that one of my photos makes a viewer want to break out into song.

Yes, I think the women's game is more enjoyable and sporting, and certainly more successful (at the World Cup level but not necessarily so at the national level in some countries) than the men's. And equality (in pay, training facilities, and fields) is slowly happening. The attendance at this WWC and the TV viewership were indeed record-breaking; in a perfect world this would make it impossible for the powers that be to not implement equality.

You started your response with a reference to a song. I'll finish mine with a different song reference: regarding tattoos. I suspect that many who rashly joined this fad will eventually agree with this bit of acquired wisdom:

"I wish that I knew what I know now, when I was younger."

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
