TGIF Foto Friends.

With the weekend upon us, let's all get out there and party hearty.

That's unlikely for me: even if I could remember how to party hard, I don't have the energy to do it.

Earlier in the week I posted a photo of the blossoms of a potato plant. Here are two more, not so excessively dark this time.

1)  I think the small areas of warm color (some pots in the background) help counter the predominance of green...

2)   Same cluster, different angle...

Wishing you all a good weekend.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hey, Dave. That is a very interesting-shaped blossom on the potato plant. The background is interesting and a nice filler. Do you have potato plants growing in your front yard?

Here is a HOSTA BUD.  I have no idea how this effect was created. This is SOOTC.
I thought it was interesting.

Hey Lorell, that is a cool effect. A soft muted image with enough value and sharpness contrast to make it pop.

No we don't have other potato plants growing. I was using an old tub (about 22 inches in diameter and 18" tall) to store old exhausted soil from the previous years' pots that held tomatoes or peppers. I didn't amend the soil here to make it more nutritious. My wife didn't know that this was just a place to dump used soil, so she buried some small potatoes deep in the soil. The potatoes started sprouting before long, so I watered it every now and then. So far this unplanned and mostly unattended growth is looking better that those in the 12 to 15 pots of tomatoes and peppers that I've tried to cultivate more carefully.

Have you been in touch with Natalie and Patty? If so, tell them that we miss them and hope they are doing well. The site isn't the same without them.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hi Dave and Lorell!
Shocking...I know! LOL
Dave good to see you are still taking the camera out looking for beautiful flowers! Really pretty blossoms!
Hi Lorell! That looks like an alien creature! But really cool. The drop of water is interesting!
I have not been out with my camera much but still keeping busy.
I hope everyone is doing well.
This is a shot from a drive we took back in May of this year to Putnum County, GA .
Had to stop in the road, jump out and take a snapshot and get back in the vehicle.
(the side mirrors get in the way of out-the-window- shots.)

Well well, will wonders never cease?
Hi Patty. Your barn really pops. Smile

Lorell, I take a lot of images similar to yours. Such close-up stuff usually has a very limited depth of field but can focus extremely well on a small part of the image. The reflections in the waterdrop are likley the colours of the clothes you had on? Otherwise something nearby the camera itself. Though it is true on rare occasions that I can get the waterdrops to magnify what is behind them.

Dave, I do try to grow potatoes though it is difficult to give them the right conditions in my climate. I have at times photographed the flowers but have not really been able to make them as interesting as yours. All my potato plants have gone to black mush. It only takes a morning or two below 0˚C. Which in degrees F, is about 23. Usually when the lawn looks like this.

Here's something about an artist who doesn't want to be called an artist. This is as she said, allows the other to preconcieve what to them an artist is. ie: I never told anybody I was an artist, because the response would be 'Oh, so you're a wanker.'
She was born not more than fifty minutes drive from me. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06-24/e.../102427210
On that silly mucking about with images, here's another variant. Probably has a bit of a mood?

What a nice surprise! So good to see you stop by, Patty. You have been missed more than you can know.

As soon as your photo appeared, I knew it was you. A very pleasing capture of your part of the world, as always.

Please return soon, OK?

A temp below freezing is one thing I don't need to worry about here. On the other hand we do have to deal with a water crisis, earthquakes, and high prices on nearly everything.

More than "a bit" of mood, MFI. I find it quite mesmerizing.

BTW, who among you knows the derivation of the word "mesmerize" (without googling it first)?

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

There was a bloke called Mesmer if I recall correctly. Wink

Oh wow, it is so good seeing you here, Patty.
The rural landscape is a definite winner, an inspiration for a painting.

Peter,
I also like your abstract “Moody Blues” image. You got me guessing on that one.
Stop by once in a while to keep us on our toes.

The article about the tattoo artists is so interesting. She paints from the heart. Have you met her?

Haven't met her and indeed only found out about her and her art, just yesterday myself. Smile
Yes, I thought her story worth sharing. Considering that she may be more famous in your country than that of her birth.
