Greetings all! Wishing you all a great weekend!
I am heading out west 230 miles to my daughters on Monday for a Tuesday appointment to set up a hip replacement surgery. I hope it can be done soon. Getting tired of limping and pain.
Here is a photo I took when in Calgary, Canada for the stampede many years ago. A little vertigo going on here!
Wow, Rich, that is giving me vertigo just looking at thephoto! Hope your surgery goes well......I am limping, just don't know what to fix.....lower back or knees....all not good, mixed with arthritis. Sucks to have gotten so old. Sorry I have been MIA.......too much going on around here.......just don't have the energy or enthusiasm to take out my camera.......There have been some great photos posted.....good job everyone.
Vertigo indeed. I for one would not be comfortable standing there.
Joint replacement surgery has become so common these days. I know a few who have had hips, knees and shoulders replaced and they have all been very pleased with the results. A few months ago I met a lady in her 80s who has had all three joints mentioned above replaced. She now works out 5 days a week at the gym.
For me, I have bad knees and one bad hip, and I wouldn't know which to start with.
Yesterday I posted a photo of a rather strange flowering plant. It was pretty ragged looking.
Today's (taken on the same walk as yesterday's photo) is a bit more "normal" and, I hope, more attractive...
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Natalie,
We miss you on here, hope things get better for you. Just drop in to say Hi once in a while.
Dave, sounds like you need to go see an Ortho Doc! If you're out walking that is good. My exercise routine has been bad since our lap pool has been shut down for repair since July. Supposed to open April 3rd. That will be a blessing. I did have to get a cortisone shot in the hip joint a few weeks ago to help with the pain and it did.
Every time I see a Calla Lily photo or painting it brings me a feeling of peace! Yours is Lovely!
Great detail in the shadows which is muted by being out of focus so as not to distract from the star of the show. Sharp detail on the flower and in my humble opinion perfect highlights.
This was Georgia O'Keeffe's favorite flower to paint!
Hey Rich, sounds like you will temporarily relocate so that you daughter can take care of you as you men from your hip replacement. Everyone I know that has had it done, has said they wish they hadn't waited so long and are happy with the results. Wishing you a safe trip and keep us posted.
I am not sure that I could stand out on that plexiglass platform. I bet you were glad that you had a camera on you to record that moment. Do you recall how many stories up in the air you are? Those cars are so small.
Dave, Love the peace lily and ditto to everything that Rich said about how skillfully it was captured. But in addition, I like how the bottom part looks like it is glowing and lighting up the leaves adjacent to it.
Hey there Natalie, I know that you pop in when you can. Thanks for solving Dave's latest and toughest "What Iz It?" challenge. I would have never solved it.
I was going to post this seashell image on the Saturday Flickr Challenge. But after I reread the rules, my image would have been DQ'd. Hate to waste an image, so I will share it with you. I manipulated it so that it appears to be painted on canvas.
Lorell, yes, daughter is an RN so will welcome her help. Well, I just thought it was tight muscles until I saw the x-ray, yikes!
Website says 30 floors and a revolving restaurant.
Well done on the seashell manip! It does have an oil painting feel to it. I think I would like to have a little more definition in the background though.
Hi Natalie. I am sorry that you are limited by mobility and pain issues.
Thank you Rich and Lorell.
Lorell, that's a winner of an image. Rich noted that he'd like to see more definition in the background. I can see that. To my eye the background might benefit by either more definition or more blur (not much in either case) because it seems to be trying to do both.
Aurora Australis! Nice, MFI.
As long as there are flowers and birds, sunrises and sunsets, I should never run out of photos to take. This flower from yesterday's walk is called an African Lily (misnamed, I believe, because if I remember correctly it is not a lily at all). It's a favorite subject: I love the slight yellow-green cast to the delicate petals, complemented by the strong burnt orange spots. This photo comes close to capturing how I feel about those two aspects...
Have a good day or evening, everyone.

Dave, does that flower bloom year-round? I think it is one of those flowers that is difficult to capture its beauty as seen my the naked eye. The range accentsseem to be glowing.
Dave and Rich, I agree with your suggestions about the background. it is too funky. Thanks for sharing.
Lorell, A process I use a whole lot is to layer the straight image under the one you want to reduce the painterly look and then slowly erase the funky image until you obtain your result....
Just saying.
