Lots of good stuff in your photo, Michael. Solid composition with leading lines and eye stoppers, wide range of values, contrast between natural and man-made forms, etc.
I usually try to produce images that accurately capture the scene and/or subject. With this image from last week that wasn't possible. It was early morning half-light and very overcast almost to the point of thin fog. So after increasing exposure and brightness during processing, I realized that I could forget about things like sharp detail and true-to-life colors. Still, I kinda liked how - to my eye at least - the composition and the completely inaccurate colors combined into a somewhat interesting image... Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him! Good afternoon Michael and Dave,
Michael, It is fun trying to follow your lead. I have two people framed by building on the right and left. But my people are NOT together. It is always fun getting to use some of the photos from the archives, so thanks for the great start to our Wednesday daily. Dave, Looks like you had a fun time painting this bird that looks like it landed in some radioactive material. It is nice how his multi colors so well with the landing he is perched on.

Tried to get a decent photo of our glacier near the edge of town. Doesn't show size perspective but it is quite large and has melted some. This is where the city dumps the snow from clean up efforts. Will be awhile before it is melted.

Rich, that is really great that your city just doesn’t use salt to treat the roads to melt the snow. Removing snow is what our state does in certain areas of our upper peninsula as in HOUGHTON/HANCOCK, Michigan. Much of the snow is dumped in the river that travels through the town that averages 202 inches per year.
That pile looks rather large if you look at the trees in the foreground.

Lorell,
They were hauling snow for a long time. Years ago we had a big snow and I posted on my FB page a contest to guess when all the snow would be gone. It was late May I believe. The city uses a salt sand mixture on major intersections. Good to dump the snow for recycle as long as no salt in it. Wow...202 inches...that's crazy! |
