I have a small pond outside my window....this is the first year I have seen this bullfrog this late in the year. I mean, it's December!!  Why is she still here?  She is sitting on a floating basket where I have parrot feather growing. I'm thinking she goes into the basket to sleep.....she disappears sometimes for a few days....today she is out. If she lives in the basket, then she sleeps (hibernates) in water??  I don't know....silly bullfrog

Oh my! That's a fine capture Natalie.

It does seem rather strange that the bullfrog isn't hibernating at the bottom of a pond at this time of the year.

Keeping the animal theme going, here's one from my archives (March 2017) of a Black Phoebe perching just a few feet away from me. This species' coloration is usually rather drab - a dark grayish black with a whiter breast, but for some reason (maybe the quality of the light on this early spring day, or maybe this individual just happened to be more colorful) it made for a nice image.

In any event, I took several photos of the Phoebe that day, posted the best years ago, and consider this one the second best of the set...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

That bullfrog is perfectly captured in his element. Nice.

Great shot of the Phoebe. Almost looks rather regal perched on the fence there.

Animals, Huh? Well, Here is Jacky again, then.

Cool shot of the bullfrog. We don't have bullfrogs as far as I know but we do have the pobblebonk or banjo frog. Which fills the niche.
Love Dave's pheobe.

I can hear Jacky's brain ticking over.. "he's taking photos again. I'll just lay low".

Speaking of aminals(sic),

Here's a Green Dart on a brightly coloured daisy.

Thanks for the comments, everyone. Silly frog should NOT be out this time of year!!
Dave, your phoebe is a pretty little bird. Nice capture. Love the muted backdrop!
Michael, you Jacky looks like a sweetheart. What would we do with out them? I agree, he looks like he's tolerating being shot one more time!!
Peter, I keep forgetting you are in a totally different season! What a colorful shot of the flower with the Green Dart....I used to plant strawflowers! They can last for years after being picked....

Have to pick the flowers before they get pollinated, for everlasting dried flowers.
Otherwise they tend to end up looking like this.
