I'll kick off the weekend thread.

Any football fans? My alma mater had their first game Thursday night, but not being a "major" school it wasn't televised. DW will be watching both the Georgia and the Alabama games today. I will probably watch some but I don't usually stick around for the entire game - always something else to do.

I got new tires on the motorcycle but when I got home I noticed that the chain was way too tight, so I spent some time adjusting it yesterday. Not happy that the shop could not even get the chain adjusted correctly so I sure didn't want to take it back and leave it for them to "fix".

I'll have to take DS to work again today as his car is in the shop again and probably will be until Tuesday or so. Fortunately it isn't too far to drive but it is still a minor inconvenience to have to take him and pick him up every day. Could be worse I suppose.

Hope all have a good weekend.

Hi Don. Thanks for starting the weekend Daily.

I'm a football fan and will probably watch some games this afternoon. But before that I'll have my computer's browser open to the NASA site to watch today's Artemis moon liftoff. Then at 10:30AM Pacific time I'll start watching the US Women's National Soccer team match vs Nigeria. (Daughter works for the company that owns the LA Galaxy soccer team, and her husband is the long-time publicist for the Women's National team. I got interested in soccer 35 to 40 years ago when I signed daughter up for AYSO.)

I had a good photo lined up earlier: a small hummingbird perched nicely with the morning sun hitting his throat patch to display the dazzling iridescence. But the camera would not function. Took it home and tried some shots but the shutter still didn't fire, and I saw a display icon indicating that it needed flash - obviously wrong because it was full light. I tried lots of things but still no luck. Finally I unseated and reseated the SIM card and that inexplicably seems to have fixed the problem.

Wishing you all a good weekend.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Morning. I've had troubles like that, Dave....Sometimes I never find out why it's not working, but eventually it does...frustrating.
Funny, Don, I have the same problem. My son's Mini Cooper's clutch went up. The shop that specializes in foreign cars told him it's a LONG wait.....they will look at it on Sept 12 and then if they need to order parts...welll.....so he has my vehicle til his gets back.....so I am wheel less....Had to walk his dogs while he is at work, took the riding mower....LOL!  I can't walk, with my bad back and knees.....lucky it's only about a quarter of a mile. Helping daughter fix up a temperary sheep fence today. At least it's cooler and less humidity......also, the water line I put up for the sheep is leaking so I have to cut and repair.........always something! Oh, and we finally got 1/2 inch of rain after about 6-8 weeks. So dry the grass is crunchy still....
Have a great weekend, all!

Good afternoon all.
Don, I know how you feel when you have things you want and need to do but there is a small thing that pops up and stops the flow, like dropping your son off at work.  I feel like that happens to me all day long, dog wants to go for a walk, husband needs help with a  fix-it problem around the house, telephone call from a friend (I do not enjoy talking on the phone, I am not much of a gabber), and other little things.  One of the worst times is when I am outside in the front yard trimming the bushes or doing other yard work and the neighbors seem to come by and want to talk.

Don, I am excited to hear how the new tires handle.  Glad you got the chain tension fixed.

Dave, I am sorry you missed such a good shot.  Hopefully, you will get a second chance.

Hi Ya, Natalie.  Well, at least you have not had to cut grass.  But I hate walking on crunchy grass.  Have a good day.

I hate squirrels.  I hate taking photos of squirrels but will share this one I got yesterday of a squirrel perched over my garden. When I walked to the garden, he ran up the telephone pole (oh dear, I guess you cannot call them that anymore) with a tomato in his mouth.  As he started screaming at me, he dropped the precious fruit.  He continued to scream at me as if I was invading his territory.  Damn squirrels, they have knocked so many tomatoes off of the ground, chewed holes in many and have eaten some zucchini.  I think they are turning into vegetarians.  I was outside taking photos of flowers when this all happened so I happen to have my camera in my hands.

Natalie, I'm sorry to hear about your mobility challenges. And I fear that I'm not far behind you. My bad back makes s good night's sleep impossible, and although I force myself to keep walking (my target is 12 to 15 miles a week) it's getting harder, my knees hurt halfway through, and and I'm definitely getting slower.

Hi Lorell.

um... I think squirrels are and have always been herbivorous. That's a good thing, because with their aggressive attitude, the thought of a carnivorous squirrel is terrifying.

You may hate taking photos of them, but you do it exceedingly well.

Your squirrel would make short work of my wife's cherry tomatoes. I took a few shots of them late this morning. This one is a rarity for me - other than cropping, it needed very little processing...

Thanks, Dave. Good-looking cherry tomatoes. I am waiting for my daughter to come over tomorrow to pick all of my grape tomatoes and take them home with her. We had BLT's with our homegrown tomatoes. OMG, was it ever delicious. It looks like the focus is back to working well on your camera.

Watching the Ohio vs. Notre Game. It is half time. It is a good game. I hope it stays pretty even all the way to the end. I hate BLOW OUTS. like the Michigan VS. Colorado St game this afternoon (51-7). University of Michigan won of course.

Whew! It's a very uncomfortable day here in coastal SoCal. The morning started out with nice clouds to the east, and now we have spotty clouds overhead. But that hasn't done much to lower the temps - in fact I think all it did was increase the humidity. At 12:45, my outside thermometer (in the shade) read 90 F (32 C), and out in the sun it was probably 10 degrees hotter. It'll peak around 4:00 PM, probably at 94 (34 C) in the shade, and well over 100 in the sun. I'm glad I got at least one walk in very early.

But we're lucky here compared to other areas. My older brother moved to Arizona several years ago; I'll bet he is regretting that now. And a day or two ago Death Valley set an all time record for highest temperature ever recorded anywhere in the world in the month of September!

But my early walk gifted me with a rather pretty suburban sunrise...

I don't like the squirrels, either. They do a lot of damage in my barn....but I can't shoot them, either. Your shot is very good. I like the feeling of sunset on him.
Dave, another nice tomato shot! Love the bokeh! Also like the palm tree shot! Love the framing, too. Very dramatic!! Good one!
Sorry I don't have any shots to post...Maybe I can get out tomorrow with the camera....
