Happy September y'all!
We still have a ways to go before it cools off here.

This is from a few weekends ago when we were up in the mountains.

damar, that's a fine house in a beautiful spot. And well photographed, of course.

I took a walk between 7:30 and 8:15 this morning, and knowing that the SW US heatwave will amp up the temperatures I dressed accordingly in jeans a light shirt. By the time I got home I was sweating and parched.

Along the way I saw some yellow lilies. Even though it was still early morning the light was strong, rendering this yellow blossom quite intense. So I reduced the saturation of the yellows about 10% to make it appear more realistic.

Today would have been my Mom's birthday. Mine is Saturday, and my two brothers were born in August. So we three were conceived in December and January - must have something to do with folks trying to keep warm in those cold Michigan winters.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Patty, what a great place to put a house. I hope they have a good view of something when they are sitting on the porch.

Hot this week then getting back to normal temps.

Dave, A luscious lily!
Yes, the weather map shows heat in your part of the country. You might need to carry a water bottle on your walks in this heat.

Here is a neat scene from across the road from the lake. It is on private property with a driveway right near it. I took a chance and drove up the drive to get the photo. No one came out with a shotgun!

Good day, all.
I got up late this morning and cut the grass, and other yard work, did a load of laundry, took a show, cut my hair, etc., etc., etc., Here it is 3 pm.  How come it takes me half the day to do chores now?

Patty, what a pretty house in such a nice setting.  Today when I went outside to start my chores, I thought about how i used to sit out on our back patio and read books, but not anymore.  The reason is that I am not a sun worshipper and I used to have a nice three-seater swinger with a canopy that gave me the shade that I loved.  But that is long gone and it's too bloody hot and sunny out there.  No trees big enough to provide us shade either.  But, Patty, I sure would be sitting on that porch reading a book and doing other things, like just gazing out at beautiful Mother Earth.

Dave, You are brave and dedicated to walk under those conditions.  I hear how bad your heat wave is going to be this weekend.  Stay hydrated.  That beautiful lily will probably not last long with the heat and lack of water.  You captured it well in the morning sunlight.

Rich, The photo was worth the risk.  That sure is a nice still life, with the relic truck, flowers and gas pump. I bet you weren't the first to drop in to take a photograph.

In a few months, our club has the challenge of turning a photo into a sketch.  I was playing around with this photo that I took this morning using TOPAZ.  I am not sure if I like this enough to consider it a contender because maybe it is not sketchy enough.  But I thought I would share it in today's daily.

Thanks Lorell, you are probably right, they must have a lot of visitors. Being right by the lake and a busy highway, a lot of people will see it.
Your forest scene is a little dark for my taste. Topaz studio 2, if you have that version has a da Vinci sketch and charcoal sketch that looks good.
This might be a little to busy for a good sketch. Just MHO "my humble opinion."
