Hi Everyone!
Mid-August already...I feel like I'm in a time warp or something!
Must be a condition of "over 55".
Busy weekend here. I'll try to catch up with the weekend thread.
We drove up to Lake Burton in the extreme northeast corner of the state.
This is the mountain region.
It was much cooler and breezier up there.
Lovely!
Here is a floor shot of a working 1800s grist mill.
I'm glad you were able to get away to the mountains and escape summer heat.
That's a very appealing photo.
The Daily for the just-ended weekend got a lot of posts with some fine images. And the same can be said for the current Challenge (Black & White). If you do get the chance to catch up, I think you'll agree.
I'll be back later today with a photo.
Have yourselves a happy, healthy, and safe week, everyone.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Patty said in her opening post: Mid-August already...I feel like I'm in a time warp or something! Must be a condition of "over 55".
I hear Ya' sister and feel the same way. It gets even worse when you are over 65!
I am torn by the summer passing by so quickly. The heat has really plagued everyone, but cooler temps ahead will be such a relief. My tomatoes need many more hours of sun and warm temps so the fruit ripens. I am sure we still have plenty of days ahead that will supply that.
That is an interesting and attractive layout with lots to look at, Patty. My goodness. Are we looking at the inside of a log cabin? Did you buy some grits? Thanks for starting our daily.
Hey, Dave, thanks for the tips on the pass threads. I will go there next.
Well, I think I shall post something for balance.
Patty posted something that reflected "Back in the DAYS...". I will post something that reflects MODERN DAYS, from my trip to downtown Detroit.
Most of the shots that I ended up liking from my photo trip to Detroit last week were taken with my Fish Eye lens, you either love it or hate it. And I love mine and hope you enjoy these warped ramps. I know that engineers, like my brother, would not .
KILLER shot, Lorell!!!!
LOVE IT!!! The flare is a nice touch too!
Is one pedestrian and the other rail?
I already have grits at home, so I bought a bag of milled buckwheat for
pancakes. They mill everything whole grain too. (no de-germing)
Got some buckwheat flour and a jug of sorghum.
Mmmmm-mmmmm!
The structure is framing covered by slab wood placed horizontally and then the white painted siding on the outside.
Built in 1876
These are the mill stones. The Chattahoochee river runs behind the mill and was/is? the power source for
the mill. (photos later)

Greetings all!
Rainy day in South Dakota, hope it becomes one where you are to the east!
Patty, Neat floor shot of the goods, very period look!
Interesting mill stone shot. We have one in our park with a plaque. I will have to go see what it is all about. Read it once years ago but have lost that information since then.
Hi Dave!
Wow Lorell, I like, I like! Very cool! And as Patty said the flare adds interest! Seems like you have to see the photo in 3D before you shoot it to embrace the fish eye lens!
Well, I did make it out to the boat parade. A cool front came through and lowered or temps from 103 to 85.
EDIT: This is the beach I took swimming lessons at when we lived at the lake about a block to the left in the second photo. Also, the cottonwood trees on the far left second photo were there when I was. They are older than me!
I must confess that I've never learned to appreciate fish-eye images. I usually find the distortion artificial and gimmicky. But that doesn't keep me from admiring the many strong points of your photo: the curves strongly define the image, and they also serve as great leading lines. The vertical buildings add energy. The sun flare is a bonus goodie.
Another very good capture of the old mill store, damar. What a great place to visit and take photos!
Hi Rich. I'm glad you got some cooler weather. Nice photos that appear to bring back nice memories.
As promised, here's a recent photo. taken over this past weekend. This sunflower from our front yard is marketed as Italian White, and I really like the creamy light yellow color of the petals.
Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!
