Happy Wednesday to All, I hope this is a great day for everyone!
Looking like rain today. I have pounds of cucumbers that I picked when I got home and
I don't have what I would need for pickling so I guess I can make some just in the fridge and share the rest
with neighbors.
(they went crazy while we were away)

Another beach shot with a classic chrome finish.
(similar to "kodachrome" but not quite)
My camera can shoot in these sims and you can see the affect in the viewfinder but if I choose
to shoot regular, those specific sims are available in the raw file.

damar, the chrome finish look sure created a pleasing and unifying look to your fine photo.

Sounds like quite an abundant cucumber harvest. I think a simple sliced cucumber, tomato, and onion in vinegar is very refreshing.

Hi to all who visit the Daily today.

Another of the shots taken in the outer yard last Saturday; this one of a lone poppy...

I have at least 2 more from this Saturday shoot to share and I'll post one a day, saving the one I consider the best of the bunch for last.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Thanks Dave!
I don't think I've ever seen a yellow poppy.
You always have a nice crop and composition.
I am going to try and post one from FlickR.
Last month, I removed all my content so now if I keep it under a certain amount, I think
I can keep my image files private. (after a certain number they go public whether you like it or not??)
Maybe Lorell knows?

Patty, another interesting beach shot....that is a nice board he has! Love the treatment you did there! Cypress knees always make me feel like I'm looking at gnomes or fairies or something similar....In this one, your knees remind me of meerkats, those animals that stand frozen on hind legs? I have seen many cut and painted like santa clauses at craft shows, but I dare not cut them, they are how the trees breath!! Nice shot! Somewhere I have a shot that looked like creatures crawling out of the water, I think I posted it years ago at WC, but don't remember!
Dave, that's a different perspective of the poppy. Nicely composed, too. Yellows and grees sure do make a great image!
Here is my entry for today, I do believe it is a calendula, and if I'm right, it's one of the edible flowers...hmmmm....might make a salad interesting!

Yes, Natalie. Calendula flowers can be eaten. The leaves of the plant can be used in treating many skin issues from cuts to chapped skin.
Nice simple poppy shot, Dave.
The cyprus knees remind me of mangrove roots, then I see Florida. heh. Soil too wet, no oxygen so the roots make the knees.
I like the Ektachrome look with the surfboard, Patty.

I keep a line of calendula growing along a path in my yard. They flower every month of the calendar.

They are a great place to get photos of the various native bees that inhabit my yard.

Thank you, Natalie! Yes, the knees look like gnomes! I love state parks that have boardwalks through cypress swamps. This was just a stand near a public boat ramp. We did watch a few guys launch their airboat. Man, are those things loud (and somewhat obnoxious)
I would never cut cypress for crafts.
Kudzu? Yes!

I LOVE your calendula photo! The shadows that the petals make just add to the depth of the flower. Beautiful background too.
Lettuce know how your flower salad tastes! Hahahah!

Thanks, Patty!
Have any of you ever eaten calendula?
Do you eat your calendula, Peter? Those are two sharp images!!
I'm glad the wildflowers came up.....now that I have bees! Will have to set up a tripod and catch a bee on some....but it's so HOT!! I'm not dealing well with HOT anymore....

HI MFIB Peter!
I did see your post on the phosphorus yesterday. Pretty interesting. Thanks.
Your Calendula center photo is interesting. I'm always amused when nature is so
orderly and thorough!
The bee capture is excellent!! What a messy worker.
My Cucumber plants have gone wild and are covered in blossoms and bees.
Yes, Natalie...its HOT out there. I can't take it either. We are getting some cloud cover coming and going
but it's difficult to get bee photos on a tripod.  give up trying to shoot handheld with 300mm.
Today cloud cover means pop up showers.

Yes. I've eaten calendula flowers often and I've made Calendula tincture which is one of the best things to have on hand whenever I wound myself. Magic at healing cuts.

The flowers are also painterly.
