Good day Foto Friends.

For those in the US, with my fervent hopes that our country gets back on the right track...

For everyone, a look at one of my few thriving lemon cucumbers...

You all have yourselves a good week.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Hello and Happy 4th of July to everyone.
Thanks, Dave for starting this daily on the celebration of America's Freedom.

I hope the cuke tastes better than it looks.  It is a pretty photo but a pretty vegetable?...NOT SO MUCH.  Is it tasty? I like your flag photo, I got one too.

So, my kids are coming over.
The ribs are slow cooking in a Dutch Oven and will be crisped up on the grill outside.  Soon I will put in the homemade mac n cheese casserole.  Got some homemade cornbread too for dunking in the juices from the baked bean concoction that I put together before I made some deviled eggs.  We will end things with some coconut cream pie (store-bought, but it looked good in the store)

Got plenty of food, come on over!
Happy Fourth,
LORELL

Celebrate our freedom!

Bright flag Dave, nice!
Never saw a lemon cuke.

Hi Natalie!

Lorell, menu sounds good. I decided on Italian Brats, smoke house beans, a green salad and a chocolate Marie Callender's  individual pie.

Here is a Lake scene and our field of flags this AM. Palace photo is from this past first Friday on Main.

Happy 4th of July to you all.
Here's a shot I took a few years back. Always good for today.

Natalie, Rich and Steve, Happy 4th to you too.

Rich, Field of flags. I like it. I feel that the town you live in is having a great time today celebrating this patriotic holiday. Are there any fireworks scheduled for over the lake? I almost bought a French Silk Pie, but since I have been getting heart burn from chocolate lately, I went with the coconut cream. Everyone was so stuffed from dinner that we did not even cut into the pie yet. Maybe later tonight.

Steve, I love the composition of this one with the flag in the background. It is pretty special and I am glad that you shared it with us again.

Natalie, I think you posted while I was composing and I didn't see your post until now. What was on your menu for dinner today?

Thank You, Dave and everyone for the celebratory wishes and photos!
Beautiful flag photo, Dave!
I have never heard of lemon cucumbers! That looks interesting!!!
take a photo when you cut into it! I'm curious!

I hope everyone has a safe and beautiful day.

Lorell, you have been busy!! Your meal sounds great! When do we eat?
Smile
We kept it simple this year (because I did a lot of grilling this week already) so we grilled burgers and corn on the cob
and a store bought cocola cake (it was yukky)

Rich, your meal sound good too!!!
Italian! Yeah buddy!!!
Love your photos. The field of flags is really cool.

Quint the eagle photo is great with the flag right there too!
You nailed it!

I just picked my first (pickling) cucumber. They were planted June 2nd!

The plants are taking over the raised bed. I will never plant them with other vegetables again.
They need their own lower 40!

OMG, Patty, what kind of fertilizer are you using? That was really fast-growing! Good for you.
My tomato plants are starting to have teeny tiny round green tomatoes on them. I mean tiny. But at least they are starting to have fruit. The plants are still small but are now showing growth overnight. I have been doing really well as far as keeping the weeds out by going back every few days with the hoe and clearing out the weeds. We had some heavy rains a few days ago and expecting storms tonight, so the weeds will be popping up like crazy for the next few days.

Here's a shot I just took of my Elephant Ear pepper coming along after a tough time. This pepper will get quite large and bright red upon maturity. It's also very sweet.

Lorell, I top dressed with black cow composted manure. (Commercial mix)
This is all new growing medium so it’s probably prime. Next year, I’ll have to use more organics.
My tomatoes are slow..will take pics tomorrow. So far only one green pepper.
Rain here too.
Yours looks good, Quint!
I only planted one sweet pepper, the rest are large green bell peppers.
