Good morning. What a lovely photo. I am mesmerized by the bright whites against the dark, forest green. OUTSTANDING!

Hi Lorell; that's a great capture. BTW - did you mean for the date of this Daily to be 05/23/2022?

And hello to all who follow. May it be a good week for all of us. With all the disturbing happenings around the world lately, we deserve it.

I've been in a creative slump; hoping this photo means I'm starting to come out of it...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Been busy. Dad had a stroke, so I have been MIA here.
A few trips to the Larger Center. He is okay, except for speech. I have to remind myself that he is 95.
Here is an image from the Petzval lens Baby Twist 60.

Beautiful images all!

Lorell, that happy spring photo really pops with the dark background!

Hi Michael!

Dave, been missing you! Love the ketchup and mustard rose!

Grant, sorry to hear of your Dad's stroke. What a great accomplishment to be 95! Hope he is getting better.

That twist lens is pretty cool!

Here is a line of lilac bush's about a block away from me.

Lorell, that's a real pretty shot....so happy it's spring and we have so many examples of wonderful florals!!
Dave, that's an interesting color of rose...Does it smell nice? I love roses that are well scented!!
Hi, Michael!
Grant, so sorry to hear about your dad. 95 years is a long life, may he heal quickly and live many more!! You are lucky you have had him with you so many years. My mom passed at 93. This year she would have turned 100....I'm glad I had her so long.Your image is very interesting! I tried to simulate this image by doing a slow exposure while turning lens, years ago.... ......it can be done, but it's hit and miss...
Rich, oh how I wish that lilac hedge was in my yard!!  I love the smell of lilacs. My grandmother's favorite flowers.....they always remind me of her....I planted some years ago, but they did not do well....I get a few blooms in the spring, white doubles and purples.....but the plants are spindly.....

Clover in my yard......did I post this one already??

Lorell, I should have mentioned, that you did well with the image in direct sun light !!!
Dave, Mustard and Ketchup... Roses named after Burger Condiments. Fun. Nice image.
Rich, Thank you for the comment.
professor Joseph Petzval invented the first mass produced portrait lens in 1840. He also invented several more lens designs.
The effect you see is the most pronounced for the F:2.5 shot wide open. As one stops down the swirl is diminished.
Natalie, Thank you for the kind words....

Glad to see so many today.

Michael, thank you for the high praise. That meant a lot to me.

And thank you all for commenting on the white flowers. It was taken with one of my favorite lenses, it creates a nice soft background at f/2.8.

Dave, welcome back. Good to see the mustard/ketchup roses are still thriving.

Natalie. Yes, that effect is tough to achieve by twisting the lens. But you did well. I love the smell of lilacs, but my favorite spring flower smell is Lilly of the valley. I picked a big handful in my daughter’s yard and she enjoyed the beautiful fragrance they added  to her house.

Grant, glad you are back too. I hope your dad does well and can recover his speech. My mother-in-law suffered from a stroke after being in a car accident. She was paralyzed on half her body and lost her speech. This happened in her early 50’s. She was able to learn about 20-25 words but the rest were unretrievable. She lived for another 25 years like that. She was a remarkable lady and kept the faith until she passed in her mid 70’s.

Grant, was your father living on his own? Wishing you patience and strength. It is a difficult time.
I love the photo of the blossoms and am so glad that you have blossoms surrounding you. The effect of the lens is cool and once again, You got me thinking about a lens baby.

Rich, that row of lilac bushes are beautiful and being well cared for. Get your smells in while they last.

Night all.

Thanks Natalie! Lilacs do have a wonderful smell.
Good job on the Depth of Focus (DOF). The blurred background really makes the flower pop! Nice presentation!

Thanks Lorell!
