Good morning to all and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday season. I see that activity has been down over the past few days but hopefully it will pick up now that the rush of the season is kind of behind us. There were still some nice photos posted though.

Crazy weather in these parts. Very warm yesterday and should be today, then the cold front moves in and it gets more seasonal. I took the motorcycle out for a spin yesterday morning, just a short one, but I hope to take a longer ride today before I tuck it away for a while. I didn't have a camera but I did shoot some phone photos. I converted to B&W in PS Elements.

I want to wish all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year! I hope this will be your best year ever!
I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.
Its a balmy 69ºF here at 10 AM this morning. We have some weather systems moving in that
could bring some heavy rain and instability this weekend. Some areas could see tornados.
I hope not!

Don, your B&W photos are looking good! The foot bridge is very nice but the river with the misty
background is really beautiful!
Keep up the good work! I'm enjoying your film work very much.

I have nothing new worth posting.
I am cataloguing my quilts from the late 1980s to now.
I used to take 35mm film shots of them and put in a photo album with each quilts
date and construction techniques but I'd like to do a digital journal so I have been using my camera.

Y'all have great day to kick off the New Year! Be safe out there!

Thanks for starting the first 2022 Daily for us, Don. I agree with damar: the footbridge photo is very good, and the river shot is even better.

Hi damar. Thanks for the New Year wishes, and right back at you and all our Foto Friends.

Flowers after a rain often are good subjects; you got a pretty blossom, probably with water-drops, and the light can be so clean and flattering.

Taken yesterday mid-morning...

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Good morning Patty and Dave and others who follow. Another nice rose Dave, I really like the droplets on the yellow.

I was able to go about 60 miles this morning but did get caught in a brief rain shower. It wasn't supposed to rain, but there you go. Also saw quite a number of deputies this morning in the next county up where I was riding. I saw one driver get pulled over. Fortunately I was well within the speed limit for the entire ride so no worries there.

We have been "shopping" for home improvement items. A new recliner for DW, a couple of new couches (to arrive in about 5 months), a new chest of drawers and night stand, and picking out flooring to replace the carpet in the living room. I don't even want to think about how much all that is going to be but we needed it all. I also ventured out to pick up a few items from the grocery store, like collards. I like them but DW doesn't, so that leaves more for me.

Two good ballgames yesterday, at least for me. The playoff should be interesting as both teams played well yesterday.

Greetings all!
Well, it is -9F degrees right now with a -32F wind chill!
Happy New Year everyone.
I remember 2021 like it was yesterday!

Don, super photos. Right place right time. The foggy conditions really add a mystery and interest to them. Both winners!
Home improvement is costly but always fun to make improvements! The supply time is really long.

Patty, good to see you again! Sounds like you are keeping busy. I need to finish a painting that has been sitting on my table for far to long.I used to take 35mm photos of my paintings but seem to have let that chore go.

Dave, nothing like a yellow rose to brighten the day, thanks!

Here is a different view of the Palace. Gift shop on the right and our Mascot Cornelius. The high school team is named the Kernels and use Cornelius in costume at the home games in the Palace.

Thanks Dave! Beautiful yellow rose! I also like the faint diagonals in the background.
Very nice composition and tack sharp!

Don, we were thinking about taking the MCs out, but its already raining here now.
Guess it's back to the sewing room for me.

New furniture: yup: will be the same here this year.
Its fun picking out new stuff though!
We have a mile long to-do list.

I'm going to cook New Years dinner tomorrow. I just want to take today off!

Yesterday, I started photographing my quilts for updated journal.
When DH built my wooden floor frame, (1986-87) I was able to make larger quilts.
This is one of the first few quilts that I hand quilted on the frame.
I tend to prefer "scrap" quilts for their humble beginnings and bright colors.
I have made some color coordinated ones but I always come back to scrap quilts.
I have a 35mm film print of a quilt on the frame that I will scan when I get my hands on it.

Snowball pattern with sawtooth border. Hand Quilted in 1987.

Patty, Wow! That is a beautiful quilt! What a lot of work but fun!
Our church quilters had to give it up. Many deaths and the young ones are not interested.
Do you give them away, sell, or keep them all? I bet kind of like painting. Keep the originals!

Hello All and Welcome to the new year, Twenty Twenty-Two.  That sounds good.

Welcome back Patty, you deserve the day off.  Sit back, put your feet up and relax.  Hell, order a pizza today for dinner.  I bet the pizza joints are busy today after all the celebrating last night and with all the football games today. U of Michigan did not do a good job of representing the winners of the big ten division.  It didn't even pay to watch the second half of the game.  Looking forward to watching OHIO state at the Rose Bowl game that starts in the few minutes.

Patty, your quilt has a bit of any abstract look to it.  I bet when you put one like that together, you look at each piece of fabric and think, "This fabric came from this quilt that I made for.... and this piece was used to make this table runner for.... , and so on, and so on.  I would be busy looking at all of the different fabric, that might keep me busy for hours, if you laid it across my lap.  Beautiful job, especially with the circles, that has to be a challenge.

Happy New Year everyone.
I remember 2021 like it was yesterday!

First of all you only get to use that line once every year and I bet you were giddy as could be this morning as you posted it.  It made me laugh.
What is not so funny is the weather that you sent that is coming our way.  The snowstorm is supposed to start at 7 pm with 3-5 " of snow, followed by bitter cold temps.  Yikes.  Our first bad winter storm.  It is already blowing hard out there. Cornelius is a happy-looking mascot, so cheerful and bright.
He looks even smart for a corn cob.

Dave, Love the pretty perfect yellow rose and olive green background.  Good enough to matt and frame it.

Don, Thanks for starting our daily for us.  Things were a wee bit quiet for a while but in spite of our self-imposed restrictions, the holidays do have a habit of keeping us busy.  I really like the second shot you took of the falls.  Great contrast and clarity.

So, here is the last photo I took in the year 2021 for Flickr's first challenge in 2022.
Happy New Year.  Wishing you hope and guidance represented by the star the Angel on the left is holding.  And may you continue to enjoy Freedom, one of our Countries most valuable treasures, represented by the Angel on the right holding a butterfly in the palms of her hands before she lets it go.

Thanks Rich! I think Cornelius is adorable! Nice photo!
Wow….it’s cold in your part of SD! Yikes!

Thanks Lorell,
If you look at the quilt, the abstract is created somewhat by light/dark fabric juxtaposition.
Some are sewing project scraps and some are classic quilt insanity:
Buy whole cloth, cut it up, then sew it back together!
Lol!
Your angel and lights photo is gorgeous! That should be your Christmas card for next year!
Excellent in all ways! I love it!
Thanks for the new year wishes everyone!
Stay cozy!
