Another week almost gone... I went for a short camping trip on the Spyder this week, leaving Tuesday and returning yesterday. I went to a State Park about 90 miles away, 2 hours or so. It was very hot, and I really shouldn't have chanced it. Here are a few snapshots. First is shortly after arrival and set up, next is all loaded back up and ready to start home. Number 3 - I started getting leg and arm cramps which I have gotten before, so I had to make a stop to drink some water and try to "walk it off". I had thought it was just age related, but after getting home and finally researching, it may be a combination of dehydration (although I tried to drink a lot of water) and lack of Potassium and/or Magnesium. Anyway, I have ordered some Potassium&Magnesium supplements, along with some pickle juice. As mentioned, it was quite hot, and even though it was early I was soaked with sweat after loading up for the trip home. We'll see if the supplements and pickle juice help.

Tonight a couple of friends of mine are performing just up the road at a sports bar, and I am thinking of dropping in to see them for a bit. We'll see.

Don, what a neat way to travel!! Looks like a lot of fun.

Yes, dehydration is a problem in this heat. I have found that (Dr.Google) drinking water in small sips is way more beneficial than large gulps. Many people drink 1/2 gal a day. and I did for a while. Most of it went down the drain. I am drinking half that amount slowly and I am pretty happy with the results. Might I suggest a sports drink for salt and potassium? Much more pleasing on the palate!

Don,

Thanks for you post. Looks like a good trip.

But I'm glad you took action vs. dehydration, and then did your research.

Way back when I was a teenager my mother was hospitalized for more than a week because of imbalances of various elements in her blood, and if my memory is correct one of those elements was Magnesium. Her blood chemistry was very seriously messed up and life-threatening.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

For more than 40 years, I bent over in very hot conditions grafting trees in many nurseries and on farms as a contractor. Often enough it was like 6,000 sit ups a day and always in extreme UV conditions. Dust, snakes, spiders and yes, dehydration was always lurking.

Hi everyone!  I don't know if you remember me. I seem to keep losing my account here. There are only six or seven of us here now? What happened to everyone?  I'm sure there's a lot to catch up on. I remember Luv2Shoot and Damar were here.

Wetcanvas seems to slowly be coming back to life, but the photo forum is still mostly dead. Some of the art forums have become active again with challenges. I was really surprised it's still around, and Yorky says they're here to stay and are getting new members.

I'm cutting back on social media overall, but I will try to set a reminder to log in here at least once a month. I've been traveling more and have quite a few pictures to show off.

Yes, we remember you Darlene. San Diego area, right?

Damar left quite a while ago - seems like 1 or 2 years. Lorell left maybe early this year.

So it's me and Man from Ironbark who post the most, I think Rich is next, Don about once or twice a month, and Quint a few times a year.

I'm more active on Flickr (a link to my Flickr albums should be at the bottom of this post.

MFI, thanks for the link: some stunning and stellar (pun intended) images there.

My long journey to improve my eyesight is complete. Cataract surgery on both eyes went so well that  I'll be able to drive without glasses. And I picked up new glasses yesterday; after the surgeries far less vision correction was needed. I'm told my vision is now 25/20, which is better than the 20/20 standard. As I said, it was a long and slow process, but well worth it.

Don't blame me - I didn't vote for him!

Glad to hear that you are pleased with your cataract surgery Dave. Wink Mine was the same after it took a while to settle down.

Yes, San Diego, though I moved closer inland to the lake. I was active on Reddit for a couple of years, but not for photography. That's a useless site. I have some stuff on Flickr and Deviantart, but not a lot. I haven't been on other social media sites too much. I still do art, but mostly digital using Painter. Mostly I've been traveling to bird festivals and learning languages.

I should follow you on Flickr.
