Ambient temperature is a different thing. White Cliffs where I dig opal, holds the greatest temperature range in my state of NSW. From the lowest of -2˚C to the max of 50C. Though that is for the whole day.
Hot or cold winds can change all of that quite rapidly.
I believe it was the Sirocco that helped LA to burn.
