Hi Dave,

Your photo has such nice lighting and focus.  The fact that the flower in the background in the brightest certainly adds depth to this composition.  Well done, Dave. Thanks for starting the daily.  I too have been MIA.  No good reason, though, just being lazy.

I think I will join you in processing a photo that was sitting my my Pere Marquette 1225 (Polar Express)  file folder.  This was a vacant building about 25 yards from where the train was parked getting itself all steamed up and ready for the journey to the "north pole".  I was done taking photographs of the train and started walking around in the area and found this interesting looking building.  I had to do a sky replacement to get rid of the blah grey overcast sky that added absolutely nothing to the image.

I do not feel bad doing so.  I recall listening to Scott Kelby finally give the okay to use sky replacement software. He said that you could have waited weeks for your trip and spent a bundle on the travel fair to arrive at the perfect location with oodles of photographic opportunities but unfortunately you are met with a sky that was washed out or exhibiting negative atmospheric conditions.  So, what are you supposed to do?  Just throw your hands up and be a purist and still take photos under the ugly condition with images that are drab and uninteresting or use the software to bring things back to life.

And so, I have no regrets that I used a sky that I captured while in Florida to resuscitate this composition.
I think this would make a good advertisement for BLOCK WINDOWS.  Do you see all of the block windows on the building that are still in perfect condition.

Have a good rest of your day,
LORELL
